I'm not going to add a globinload of words for nothing so let's go to the core already. - Mario & Kirby: - - - The Mario series and the Kirby series both share two species. - - - Additionaly, they both share Star Rods and Fountains of Dreams (the Star Haven's temple is quite obviously a Fountain of Dreams). - - - Same level of colorfulness. - - - Kirby's Star Blocks are seen on the Observatory, next to the book room.
- Mario & The Legend of Zelda: - - - In a cel-shaded Zelda game for the DS that I forgot the name of, a Star Bit that falled on Hyrule is a collectible item. - - - One of the incarnations of Link appears in Super Mario RPG. - - - Link is mentionned during a dialogue in Donkey Kong Country 3.
- Mario & Metroid: - - - Samus appears in Kirby's Dream Land 3. - - - Samus appears in Super Mario RPG.
- Mario & Pikmin: - - - Ruins of Olimar's ship are shown in Super Mario Galaxy. Why ruins ? You'll see later in this post. - - - Pikmins appear in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour.
- Mario & MOTHER (EarthBound): - - - You'll see later in this post.
(and, due to all those proofes, it is most likely than it counts for most of the other Nintendo series)
Now, the core of the core. A bit off-topic, but who cares, it's mah topic11!1!1! In the Kirby series, Earth has been frozen and humanity has been destroyed. Why ? We don't know. The most likely theory is that there's been a nuclear war and the planet falled in an heavy nuclear winter. But in MOTHER 3, it is said that "the humans destroyed their own world". Wait, doesn't that fit ? Because the F-ZERO series takes places in the XXVII th century, the Kirby series happens at least after the year 2800.
Why is Olimar's ship wrecked ? Because he's dead since long, as the Pikmin series takes place in our current time. Why'd the Mario series happen in a very far future ? Because... The universe was destroyed.
That massive Big Bang wasn't mentionned anywhere else in other Nintendo games. Not even in the Kirby series, which is set in a quite far future.
Now you learnt two things: 1 - (almost?) All Nintendo series are in the same world 2 - Mario will be born in 4000 years or so Brought to you by WarioWare, Inc. !

I don't completely agree with your theory, but, I do believe all of the Nintendo Universes are connected, but I don't think it's set in the Future. Also, I always thought at the end of SMG1 that when the Luma's stopped the Black Hole, they just reversed time to the Morning of the Star Festival, erasing everyones memories(Except for Mario's), not Reset the Universe!

It didn't reseted it, it recreated it. And a big bang would act on space, not time. Why'd they have forgot things anyway ? Why'd have Mario forgot everything too ? The Star Festival can also be re-celebrated, don't forget the Comet is controlled by Harmony, a living being. She does what she wants.
And why do you believe the Mario series isn't set in the future ?

I just really don't think that there is enough evidence for me to make an assumption like that. Also, I know that it COULD be re-celebrated but I don't think it was, because even Bowser is not foolish enough to try the EXACT. SAME. PLAN. TWICE. If that was true, then he would have just been changing the way he executed the Plan. Now, I could maybe see him trying the same thing, only differently, but not one day after his plot Failed miserably. I still think that either, A)The Luma's reversed Time to the morning of the Star Festival. B)Rosalina made the people forget the events of the First game and passed by the Mushroom Kingdom again to make them think it was still the morning of the Star Festival. Or C)Both games are just altered retellings of the same Event, making one of them Non-canon(This is INCREDIBLY unlikely!)

While I don't like that theory as much, I must say one thing about it. You, koopalmier, did just make wonderful connections between series. I salute you.

And actually he has two different plans in SMG and SMG2. In SMG he plans to take over the whole universe. In SMG2 he only wants to make his new castle at the center of it. :/ @ above poster : I accept your salutations. Now give me cookies, money and girls. Wait, only cookies and money would be enough.

If I may add something that really isn't related to Mario but still fits in to this, I think that Starfox and Animal Crossing take place on the same planet. Considering you have all these bipedal animals living in intelligent civilization, it's really just the art style that's different. (AC might just be in an earlier time period.)

Nice observation, PDoogan! I'm not sure if I agree, but it DOES make sense!

This is a good possibilty, but there's a little problem. - Animal Crossing's planet is mainly populated by humans but there are a few towns inhabited by anthropomorphic animals. - StarFox's planet (I forgot its name) is mainly populated by anthropomorphic animals.
Except if there was a great war and the animals won... But in Animal Crossing there are too few animals.

It didn't reseted it, it recreated it. And a big bang would act on space, not time. Why'd they have forgot things anyway ? Why'd have Mario forgot everything too ? Actually my theory on the matter is that when the Big Bang 2 happened the universe was re-created. But Rosalina said herself that not all things would be exactly as they were. While the Big Bang 2 seemed to only save Mario and the Comet Observatory from dieing it also in a way re-booted the universe. So at the time when Super Mario Galaxy was to happen Super Mario Galaxy 2 happened instead. Mario is able to faintly remember the events of the first Galaxy game and Rosalina remembers it completely. Bowser also seemed to remember it to some extent as he tried to do a slightly different plan than Galaxy 1.

Thats what I said KingKoopa, but, I don't think that the Universe was Reset/Recreated/Rebooted, I still think the Lumas just turned back time to the morning of the Star Festival. Mario and the Baby Luma still faintly remember the Events, as they seem to have taken a liking to each other rather quickly. And the Toad Brigade probably does too, because they managed to construct an Operational StarShroom much faster than SMG1. Everyone probably remembers things like listed above, while no one besides Rosalina remembers the actual Events! Thats probably why Bowser had a last minute, change of plans, he had a strange feeling that he would fail! Thats just my 2 cents, anyway.

What Rosalina meant is that the universe was recreated, but a bit differently. What does this mean, more precisely ? Well, the galaxies Mario went through all formed an unique galaxy, as you can see in the ending. It appears the Big Bang 2 had other effects on the universe, like the MW's moon going away, only to be replaced by 6 different moons.

What is funny though is that when Mario uses a Launch Star for the first time in Galaxy 1 he uses it perefectly, but in Galaxy 2 he seems to have forgotten how to fly while using the launch star. How can Mario forget how to do something that he already knew how to do prior to the first galaxy?

He doesn't fly, he's launched. He can't control anything.
And I guess he was surprised because of how powerful that Launch Star was. He wasn't prepared to be launched that high, and we weren't either.

But, Koopalmier, the Moon is still visible after the Events of the Galaxy games! While the Galaxies from SMG1, are not. My conclusion: The Galaxies in SMG2 are the reformed Galaxies from SMG1, and They are returned to their normal Positions(On ME) after Mario retrieves the Power Stars in SMG2! Why doesn't Mario fix them after SMG1, you ask? Simple, no one new they where there! Because, Rosalina made everyone forget the Events of the first game. Well, thats all I have for now!

What games chronogically happen after SMG2 ? Mario Kart Wii - if you think it is canon, which it is certainly not - and Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. You can't clearly see the night-time sky though.
Also, the galaxy mass from the ending of SMG1 is seen in SMG2. From the Sky Station Galaxy. You can see Nintendo was lazy with SMG's cutscenes, just look at the Mushroom World or - well, the newborn galaxy.
Also, Mario's planet now has 6 Moons, right ? 3 bigs, 3 smalls. You can see from the World 1 map that one of the small Moons (the white one) is seen at daytime, not at night-time. And because it is so small, it probably can't be seen anyway.
Until we get more information, we can't debate.

Good point. Until further Info surfaces let's just say "To each his Own"! But that's only 'till one of us gathers enough Info to disprove the other. Well, let's get back on topic: The Nintendo Canon... Somebody say something... Guys?
