Mario's jumping is considered mediocre in the Smash Bros games. That might be because the other jumpers are a pink balloon and a blue balloon with wings

I was talking about the Scene is SSE where he meets Pit and Leaps a Good Mile!

SSB shouldn't be used as an example for anything within the regular Mario games.

What salestoad?

My mistake. I recalled that there was a Toad shopkeeper deep in Smithy's Factory, but thought he was there already rather than running after the heroes.

He mentions that he was amazed it made it there in one piece, so it probably wasn't easy.
Wonder what EXP level he was currently at when he got there. Wouldn't be surprised if that very same Toad was the one who went on to found the Toad Brigade.

I'm that annoying guy who tries tomake any single-Toad appearence to be the character "Toad", so I see no problem with that.

That Toad actually IS referred to as "Toad" on his text box, whereas most of the other Toads in the game do not. This is leaning more and more towards that one red Toad being the same character in every appearance.
And for those of you who insist otherwise, is there really any particular reason why he can't be the same character? I always thought it was more beneficial to have it that way than not.

Exactly, finally someone else agrees. I'm also following the idea that any red-spotted Toad with a major part in storyline is this same Toad. (SMS, SMG, SMG2, that is.)

I like that explanation for Toad jumping power, and unless there's a non-PM source for Goomba jumping powers suspect that Goombas were given jumping powers for gameplay purposes there too. Otherwise their only attack would be to walk up and bite, and that would make them very weak partners, only able to target the first enemy in line and also injured by spikes.
Note that in M&L1, Mario's way of proving his identity was to jump, which awed everyone who saw it. That suggests that Mario's jumping ability is highly distinctive.
Canon war - M&L series vs. PM series!

Mario's awesome jump abilities are downed in most games because it'd break it. The Super Jump in M&L1 would be useless, for instance. In Paper Mario, Mario's jumps are very limited in the overworld but he can jump up to the top of the screen in battle. Same goes for the M&L series. Goombas may also be able to jump as high as Mario, but it appears Koopas definitely jump much, much higher than Mario (see the Koopalings in NSMBW) so Mario's jumps are distinctive... for a human.

Mario doesn't even come close to beating the jump power of a Koopaling. A Koopaling can jump from the halfway castle to the end-of-world castle in 2 JUMPS

We don't see great jumping powers out of most species of koopas. Whatever Bowser is has Mario-like jumping power, and I've seen some good jumps out of Hammer Bros., but I can't think of any other good koopa jumpers off hand.

I wonder why Bowser doesn't use Charging Chucks anymore... They were always one of my favorite enemies in Super Mario World.

Chargin Chucks jumps aren't as good as Mario's though. And Bowser probably doesn't use them anymore because they were always one of your favorite enemies. Think about it, why would Bowser want to mobilize enemies that please you? You're playing as Mario after all. So he's more likely to send enemies that annoy you to death. But yea, I miss Chargin Chucks too.

Seriously though, Super Mario World is my favorite Mario game. Well, than again Galaxy 2 was pretty epic. It's so hard to choose...

SMW was my favorite of the sidescrollers as well. Followed closely by SMB3. (If only for level 5-3)
