Yeah that is what I was talking about

I think that the "block design" room in MLSS was a fourth wall reference. I mean, it also tells you the name of the game it first appeared in, and the release year of said game.

Maybe Mario characters know that they are in a video game

Mario himself seems to be semi-aware of it (he thanks you for paying his games) but everyone else doesn't seem to notice

In Paper Mario TTYD, there's a toad kid who makes a comment about a Paper Mario game being made that was based off of Mario's Paper Mario adventures.

What about Goombella, Frankly and Crumps ?
We should consider the Marioverse as being like a true world and the fourth wall jokes to be... well, jokes. Or else we can just say "it's a video game" to answer everything.

OK, most people don't realize it, but their are exceptions.

I still think you can just put the 4th-wall Jokes aside and say they Don't know they are in a Video Game!

But Mario is the only person who thanks me for buying his games!

Wait, are you saying the sales clerks aren't thanking you when you check out? You might want to tell the management about that, cause I think they're supposed to.[/off-topic]
Anyway, I think that the character reference I mentioned in my last post may mean that the whole being in a game thing could be more than just a fourth-wall joke. It's still a fourth-wall joke, but could it mean that there exist, and people play Mario games within the Mario universe?
When you think about, Mario is pretty famous, but what type of implications does something like that cause?

It's actually a pretty cool Idea that there are Video Games based on Mario in ME! This would also explain 9-Volt's Micro-Games without it being set in the real World! Nice Work!

There are definitely video games in the MW (Luigi mentions a N64 in PM, and a GBA is mentionned in PM2. Also there's an arcade room in M&L1, and apparently video games are a new industry as they are very rare and no arcade room was made yet in the MK). But in PM2 the Toad says he's finished the game itself, before Mario saves the world, so it's more like a fouth wall joke. But I wouldn't be surprised if there were really video games based on Mario's adventures. After all PM1 was made into a book and PM2 was made into a play...

I doubt all of the Spin-offs are, though(Maybe Some). But it's possible that a Video Game Company in ME wanted to Cash-in on Mario merchandising, and got the rights to manufacture Games based on his Adventures! But I doubt Princess Peach would allow them to include the "Shower Scene" from TTYD(MK is a Monarchy, she has the Authority to do that)!

I think I remember Mario Party 2 being a play. And Rosalina obviously made a book about Super Mario Galaxy 2

I don't consider Mario Party games as being canon, for many reasons. They are extremely cheesy (and thus don't fit with the series, like Mario Strikers games), they don't make sense at all (i.e. Mario Party 4... everyone has the same birthday date ? And owns a different house ? That is apparently ridiculously small ?), and they aren't mentionned by the RPGs (Luigi does talk about "parties" in PM but the only MP game to actually be a party is MP4 and it came out after PM). And some things are simply pure mess-ups.

Mario Party 2 could be Canon, because it's a Play(Which explains the Cheesieness). But the Events of the Play didn't actually take Place. The Strikers games definately aren't Canon, because they just don't fit into the Mario Universe.

Mario Party is also very cheesy. They battle to decide who's the "super star" ? Mario and Luigi are definitely the kingdom's superstars, they saved it many, many times. And what do they mean by "super star" anyway ? Like, who should be the main character ?
Mario Party 2 is a play, but I doubt Bowser would ever accept to do a play with Mario. Sure, he does want to do sports with Mario and co. - because he too needs to do sports, and because that allows him to still fight Mario outside of when he's conquering the MK. But he would never do a play, and would never, ever do a play with Mario. That'd mean they are friends.
Plus MP2's "play" may simply be a style, like how PM is a storybook, SPM is a computer program and SMB3 is a play. Mario Party 6 is also a pop-up book then.

I'll just make it Easy for everyone and say the Party games aren't Canon! But the Bowser in MP2 could have been someone in a Suit, but I don,t want to get into that.
