I would comment on Pdoogan's revelation, but because I've yet to complete PiT, I didn't want to read any spoilers.

But Mario being older that Luigi has been stated just in the movie and maybe other non-canon sources, in the games they are twins.

I think there's been some off handed comments about it in some of the newer games, although I can't think of any examples off the top of my head.

I think Mario is refered as the older in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. BTW I'm new here.

Could you give some references to the text?

Welcome newcomer.
Can't we just say Mario's older than Luigi by like, 5 minutes? Yah know?
Or however long somebody could be giving birth to twins coming out on the same day.

[sarcasm]Nah, the stork was because a mad scientist send it to kidnap the babyes and making clones with them, the stork collected a bit of blood of Luigi because of the attack, and the mad scientist created Wario and Waluigi with it. The End[/sarcasm]

I finished PiT a long time ago, but I just now read Pdoogan's revelation. It's brilliant! This allows the bros. to be twins but also for Mario to be older than Luigi by more than a few minutes. I guess we can't know exactly how much older, though.
Wait, if E. Gadd didn't finish his time machine until PiT, how did the bros. bring their younger selves to the future before that?
EDIT: Just read Pdoogan's comment in the DK thread. Did Mario have to sneak around to use the time machine in order to make sure no one else figured out how to use it until PiT?

Wait, if E. Gadd didn't finish his time machine until PiT, how did the bros. bring their younger selves to the future before that? It's a time machine, you can go to when ever you want. But I must admit, that's the one part of my theory that's a bit sloppy. I think I may be able to work somthing out in the time line though.

Partners in time could have happened before the games with the baby versions of the characters to appear.

I was just thinking about that! In fact here's an interesting story. I decided one day to correct the Luigi article in Wikipedia. I decided to add the word "twin" after the words Mario's younger *twin* (brother) I added twin. It wouldn't stick. Every time I edited to Twin someone took it out. Apparently someone believes very strongly that they are not twin brothers, despite all the evidence to the contrary. They are obviously twins; but some people don't think so. I should start a discussion page. -__- en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Luigi&diff=31554404&oldid=31548995Bastards. Before I just added twin. Twin question mark wasn't good enough anymore. It irks me to see an incomplete--inaccurate Wikipedia Luigi article Any suggestions in perhaps adding that info without offending someone? why do u think they r twins? i thank that they are not twins

Maybe the fact that they are at the same age on Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island suggest the "twin" idea, don't you think?

Nobody is born at the same time, in the same few seconds. Mario can be older than Luigi, and still be twins. They can be born apart by a few hours really.
Also, assuming the Bros. wern't 10 when they first saved Peach, they're probably in their late 30's. And since nobody ever likes seeing their heros be old, I'll say the magic and healthy evironment of the Mushroom World has perserved their youth. Even though you can be in your prime in your 30's, just look at Will Smith and Tony Hawk.
Peach in her 30's Wario around 40 And since Bowser's species could age slowly like most real reptiles, he could be right now either 20, or 110. Same for Yoshi too.

I think Wario is closer in age to the Marios then you think. In YIDS, he seems about the smae age, a year older at the most, considering he's seen standing on his own in a few scenes and is seen arguing with baby bowser near the end of the game, so I assume he can talk a little too.

I still hold that Mario's fifty. Like YM said, however; the healthier environment of Mushroom Earth keeps them looking youthful. If they lived in our world, they'd probably look like Cranky Kong.

Fifty isn't exactly old, you know. What with poeople living into their 70's and 80's nowadays.

Fifty isn't old by age standards, but it does make humans wrinkle a little.
