In multiple sources, Nintendo has stated (not in the same source) that Luigi is both Mario's twin and younger brother. Which do you think is true?

older doesn't mean by years, mario could have come first, then 4 seconds later comes luigi

That's kind of nitpicky, though. I'm pretty sure that's not what Nintendo ment when they said "older".

I was thinking that was exactly what they meant, though. But maybe not.

In TMK they thought up Luigi was younger by two years because he first appeared in Mario Bros. two years after Donkey Kong.

The only source that really states there twins is Yoshi's island. before that Mario is considered older, and to some degree, he still is. Maybe the reason Mario is considered older is because he was literally created two years before Luigi was. So Nintendo may just be saying that more as a gaming reference rather then referring to when they were born.

I would say the only option is, then, that Mario was simply born a few seconds before Luigi was.

I was just thinking about that! In fact here's an interesting story. I decided one day to correct the Luigi article in Wikipedia. I decided to add the word "twin" after the words Mario's younger *twin* (brother) I added twin. It wouldn't stick. Every time I edited to Twin someone took it out. Apparently someone believes very strongly that they are not twin brothers, despite all the evidence to the contrary. They are obviously twins; but some people don't think so. I should start a discussion page. -__- en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Luigi&diff=31554404&oldid=31548995Bastards. Before I just added twin. Twin question mark wasn't good enough anymore. It irks me to see an incomplete--inaccurate Wikipedia Luigi article Any suggestions in perhaps adding that info without offending someone?

Maybe if you put in that he may be Marios twin but it is unknown for sure. ----- I just thought of something though...Dose any game besides Yoshi's Island state there twins? I was reading the first post over and Claws said multiple sources state both arguments. I can't think of any besides YI that has ever said that, Not even Partners in Time.

I was reading the first post over and Claws said... I guess a ghost looks the same as a snowflake, eh? Anyway, I can't remember another source either. Then again, I read so much that I can barely remember such things. If there was only one source (YI) that said they were twins, it wouldn't matter because it has so much priority over such a claim.

...Right sorry, I wasn't really paying attention. Perhaps the whole warping back and forth though time in M&L2 has some weird side effect on the babies age (making mario older or luig- ok never mind. I'm really going out on a limb here XP

Same age too... the babies appear to be. Mario doesn't appear any older in PIT so I think it's safe to say they're fraternal twins. I never said they were identical though.

Mario doesn't appear any older in PIT That's true, but baby Luigi still somehow decides to follow baby Mario instead of walking beside him.

Funny, I changed that two days ago to:
"Luigi is Mario's brother. (Whether he is a younger brother or a twin is subject to debate.)"

I did it! I figured it out! last night as I was just about to fall asleep, it just came to me. I was thinking about what might have happened after Partners in Time. What if E.Gadd were to fix his time macine so it wouldn't produce timeholes in random places, the Marios could go back in time to visit their baby counter parts when ever they wanted to. They could also take them back to the futer with them to play sports and stuff such as tennis and golf. Spending time in the futer would increse the age of baby Mario but if he were to go back to his own time period at the exact time he left (so no one would know he was missing) he would now be slightly older than baby Luigi. You may think to your self "a few days wouldn't make much of a difference" but we don't know for sure how long baby Mario accaully stayed in the future. It cou;d have been months or even years. But know one in the past would miss him for more than a few seconds, because he was brought back to the same time he left.
