Eh, I don't like putting that much unofficial plot into a certain game without some hard evidence. Also, isn't there somthing in the instruction booklet about Mario having another dream beforehand where he finds out about Wart and everything? Let me go find that...

Yes, he had the dream from a Subcon, the next day had a picnic, found a portal to Subcon, and everything in the beginning could have happened.
This is just explaining what happened at the end.

I agree with you, YM. My reason is Super Smash Bros. Melee. In that game there's a level called "Mushroom Kingdom II," and it's an area of Subcon. This proves that Subcon still exists and is probably considered part of MK.

Just because it was a dream, doesn't mean it doesn't exist at all. It's sort of like a place that occupies a part of the universe that can only be reached when asleep. Hence the term "Sub-con" (sub-conscience)

Pdoogan, are you saying that Subcon exists but not on Mushroom Earth? That would work.

I never realy thought about flower fields being an alternate dimension, but it might fit. The sun you find in flower fields is probobly just a local sun, not a big ball of gas.

Don't you guys ever look at the map!?!
The door is just a teleporter to Flower Fields, which is on the upper left hand side of the Mushroom Kingdom. Check it.
