The story may get dark, but not for the heroes. The dark side of the story rarely hits them either - I mean, the world destruction thing, the love story and all that stuff in SPM ? It does concern the new characters, but the Mario team only interferes with that. I actually liked PiT's dark story and the fact it hits the heroes - it's interesting, and as long as it's not a try to make the series "edgier" or "more mature" I'm okay with that.

I find that games like Luigi's Mansion, TTYD, PiT and SPM are actually relatively decent ways to make a Mario game that comes off as mature and intelligent without sacrificing any of the madcap nonsense that makes Mario so iconic.
I mean, it's not like they pulled a Shadow the Hedgehog on us or anything.

First launch title for the Wiiniverse: WALUIGI'S KILLING SPREE Nintendo : "So, we needed a game with guns and blood, and we thought Waluigi would fit for that." Fans: "What ?! But... HE DOESN'T !!! WHAT ARE YOU-" Nintendo : "Shut up and look at the sales going up ! We'll make a sequel including that other grey hedgehog from Sonic, uuh... what's his name already ?"

...Silver the Hedgehog doesn't have anything to do with Shadow's game or the subject matter about "mature" games.
And Shadow's game didn't even involve "killing sprees". Using guns and cursing was as far as it went.
Point is, there are ways to make games come off as mature in an intelligent and sophisticated manner, and Mario has already accomplished this.

Several times, as a matter of fact.

Yes I can, provided the joke was good.

Doesn't change the fact it was a joke.

It wasn't a good one, and it didn't make me laugh. Jokes usually have to be good to garner acceptance from people.

It's obvious it didn't make you laugh if it wasn't funny. >< Something that stupid can't be taken seriously, though. (and inb4 you say "Everything you say doesn't have to be taken seriously then" or something like that)

To be fair, I thought it made me chuckle a bit. Of course, I have a very "off" sense of humour...

So, all Paper Mario games had a "perverted" joke.
SMRPG: Peach's XXX, obviously. PM: The You-Know-What movie, and the Koopa Legends book (which isn't exactly about sports, unlike what the English version states). PM2: The Goombas who try to attack Goombaria because they want her to "play with them" because they are "veryyy nice" (rogue Goombas who try to rape a female Goomba. Thanks the stars FOX News doesn't care about Mario games, heh ?), Goombaria saying that the airway in the dressing room of the X-Nauts' base is "for perverted people" (I'm not sure if it's in the English version though), TEC watching Peach washing, and later Peach undressing because she can't be entirely invisible otherwise, etc. PM3: The You-Know-What is back, except it's a DVD now ! And the characters still don't want to tell you what it is.
You know what would be hilarious ? If, in PM3DS, we learn that the You-Know-What movie is actually a documentary about fishing, and that nobody wants to talk about it because it's too boring (I guess Goompa must like fishing then).

Goompa does like fishing. He was one of the people that you needed to invite to Rougeport for that fishing trip thing in PM.

So yeah, awesome new footage. I absolutely adore the mountain region with the falling Bob-ombs; it looks positively fantastic. The graphics are quite pretty, and I'm intrigued by the sticker gameplay. The only thing that bothers me is the inherent generic-ness of most of the areas. It's not a major complaint, really, but I'd like to see something fresh in the location department.
I'm not too worried about partners. Again, it's most likely that the partners simply haven't been developed yet, or that the developers don't want to spoil them.
Looking forward to this.

No way, I just came here to post that, lol.
I think the trailer was mostly just Chapter 1, with the lava probably being like Chapter 5 or something. We'll see some Intelligent Systems genius on the 19th. And hopefully this will be a launch game in US, or at least by May.
