Maybe that is why the goombas betrayed them, they could never evolve enough.

Yeah, maybe. That's a pretty good idea actually.

I personally think that Toads are Mammals, not Fungus, not part-Fungus, Mammmals! Goombas are a different Story, though! Also, on the Topic of Evolution in the Marioverse, I seriously doubt it! Thats something I doubt in the Real World, so I can't really say I do in a Fictional one!

The Chancellor says his spores almost falled when he heard Peach was kidnapped (or something like that).

Okay, so they are Fungus!

And don't forget Toad using spores in SSBM (although that could be considered not canon)

Super Smash Brothers. If Peach uses Toad to attack, he shoots out a bunch of spores.

I still can't remember, but, I suppose it counts!

Peach's Toad attack works like this: if an enemy attacks you (or rather the Toad) the Toad shoots green spores that hurt the enemy. I think that now Toads are quite human-ish, while the spores they still have are useless.

Well, even if the game itself is not Canon, the concept is! Toad is a Mammal-Fungus, but he has always been such, and at no point was he ever full Fungus!

But both Toads and Goombas are fungus. They obviously evolved from unintelligent fungus. The evolution was probably very long but eventually happened.
Also, this is off-topic, but out of curiosity, why do you not believe in the real-life theory of evolution ?

Well, I don't want to change the Topic too much as we are gathered here to Discuss Mario! I do believe in it to a certain extent(Micro-Evolution!), but I don't based on a lack of so-called Missing Links, as well as Spiritual Reasons! Before you respond, keep in mind that this Forum is about Mario.

Wait, because people are actually searching for a missing link between monkeys and humans ? ... *facepalm* Still, early human cranes kind of show the human body evolved. The same could be said about Toads. Although the evolution must've been much, much longer so that they could become an entirely new species...
See ? We're back on topic. ^^
