i see what you mean pdoogan but YM has a point too but also YM the time it takes to complete a game is totally offset to the time of the world of the game like in final fantasy it only takes less than a wee to finish but the time in the game is completely different like slepp seens count as the end of the day

The maps for SMA4 are illogical since the areas don't resemble any of the worlds at all. Most of the worlds are islands and the SMA4 map shows them differntly.
The maps should be set with the angle it shows. North is up South is down.
And Phil yes I know the times differnt I thought I said it.

Mario travelled for three days on the Excess Express to get from Rogueport to Poshley Heights, right? That's the best time scale we have.

Ok, then maybe scrap that idea if we can't figure out how fast the scenery is moving past.
How about Mario Karts etc.? It may be a weak point because it's not considered canon by everyone, but it's still a fact that karts can go about 56mph.

Yeah they go about 60mph so? Most terrain wouldn't be fit for go karts.

Well, let's do some math. 56mph = 90kmph. (I work in metric.) If a kart can go 90 kilometres in an hour, then it can go 1.5km (0.93miles) in a minute. It takes about 1'20" to race Baby Park, meaning they travel 2km (1.24miles). Being 7 laps, Baby Park is then 290m (316.8yards) long, leaving about 145m (158.57yards) for the straightway. Now my brain is tired, but we can then figure out sizes of characters, and then other locations.

There's already a charecter size thread.
And the MK64 instruction booklet says the length of the tracks.

Yeah, but in MK64, kart speeds aren't known.
And I know there's a character size thread, it's just that I happened to lead into that topic.

Actually if you press one of the C buttons it shows a speedometer.

I recall Super Circut having a speedometer in the time trials. The karts in that game are nearly identical to N64 version.

Does it really matter?

I think it does matter. Precision is important.

I mean like, why does the kart speeds matter to anything? Read my long post on page 2: Well, let's do some math. 56mph = 90kmph. (I work in metric.) Now my brain is tired, but we can then figure out sizes of characters, and then other locations. This thread is about distance and sizes of land in the Mushroom World, right? That's what this whole schmeal is trying to figure out.
