Well, OK but let's not totally forget them and use what we can.

I'm for that. If anybody has the mangas, we could use a little info.

I have read mangas, and they don't deviate from the plot and are alot more truthful then the comics. THe mangas just have more storyline and that little thing were the manga's do the things out of order, but there is usually a connection to why the characters do it.

Well, that's nice to know. There certainly are many of them.
This brings up another question: should we accept the children's books as canon?

I'm pretty sure most of them are based on a cross between SMB3 ans SMW. From what I've read, there's nother really weird or impossible about them. The only anomily I've noticed is that they use the cartoon modle of Bowser ever though they don't call him Koopa. Other then that they pretty much stick to the game. I'd be willing to consider them cannon. In fact, of all the out of game literature, those books seem to be one of the most accuate sorces.

I've got a "follow your own path" (or something like that) book about Super Mario Advance we could look at. I might have a few others too.

0_o Super Mario Advance!? What's it called? I don't think I've ever heard of any books or comics published past Super Mario Land. (besides the manga)

OMG, that's amazing! I've never heard of that before anywhere! I didn't even know they made Choose your own adventure books anymore! You think they made books for the other GBA remakes? i would love to see one for Yoshi's Island. By the way, whats the storyline?

I haven't read it recently, but I seem to remember it having the same storyline as the game, only with a few embellishments. I have a few Zelda books that are similar and several Sonic the Hedgehog books.

I'd like to bump this to mention the human characters of the golf and tennis handheld games. specificaly max, tina, the kid with the hat for MGAT, ella, alex and a few others that have visited the mushroom kingdom

Well, My theory on humans in the Mushroom Kingdom is radically different from yours... maybe because I don't believe in all that stuff about M&L going to the real world... well, here goes. I believe that Humans originated from Sarasaland. It is at least 1/4 desert, which is, in fact, the most ideal condition for Human life to emerge from, due to the lack of really deadly animals there. (Africa is desert.) They than spread to the rest of Sarasaland and eventually to other kingdoms.
Also, why do you all think Mario grew up in Brooklyn? never in any of the games have I seen this ever been said.

Donkey kong alegedly took place in brooklen, but it has been retconed. (DARN YOU RARE!!!)
It said he was from brooklen in the instruction guide of super mario bros, but people don't take instruction guides to seriously.
Oh, and I think shy guys came from sarasaland. (Don't ask me why)

I still think the humans managed to find a warp pipe on Earth and came over the same way as the Mario's. This may have been a long time ago though, so that would leave plenty of time to reproduce and make the population grow.

mario bros (arcade) has also been said to take place in brooklyn.
I know they'er not entierly canon, but MTPT and MGAT show the main characters getting to the mushroom kingdom by plane and cannon respectivly
