And of course there's no actual height markings.

The markings are for Mario and bowser's height only. But now that we have this graph, you can just find a picture of one of the characters with a familiar object (such as a golf club or tennis racket) and figure out the sizes from there.

I think I have answers:
Mario: 5' 1'' (according to NP)
Luigi: 5' 10''
Peach: 6' 1'' (A little taller then Luigi)
Toad: 4' 5'' with cap/3' 11'' without cap
Yoshi: 5' 2''
Goomba: 3'
Koopa (Bipedial): 4' 1''
I think that's about right.

No, I think Luigi is much closer in size to Mario then that. He only seems to have a few inches on him.

Yeah, nine inches would be extremely noticable. Also, I think a Goomba is shorter than that, as one is half the size of Super Mario. (Maybe 2'6"). Toad's shorter too. Other than that, though, pretty good.

Rofl! Man your posts are weird! I just like to say that there are wide range of toad sizes. There are some fairly tall ones too, also there are child ones. Were probably talking about the standard toad who is allways around and allways seems to be about the same size. Red white cap with a blue jacket toad who gives you stars in Mario Party and who is the only toad"version?" seen in Super Mario 64.

I'd thought that Mario was 5'0" exactly, but I was wrong; according to Kotaku in Japan you can buy a "life-size" statue of Mario that is 155 cm tall, or 5'1".

The English text only says "big size" and "super size", not "life-size", does the Japanese text say that? Although, 155 cm is pretty much the perfect size for him.

The large Japanese text says "Life-size Mario!! Limited to 30".

You know, that's what Nintendo Power approximatively said.

And this is even known since longer than 2007 (when NP told us Mario was 155cm tall). Remember the official size chart ? In size charts, there's a line every 100cm. Here, the lowest grey line is at 100cm, the red line is Mario's size (155cm) and the highest grey line is at 200cm. This is a quite old file, it must date from 2003 or 2004. Now we can estimate the size of most of the characters ! As for characters that aren't there (i.e. Fawful) we can base ourself on the in-game sprites.

It's all nice and dandy, but are you sure these lines are 100 and 200 cm and not just Toad and Bowser's height? I once even had an article that just measures every character relative to Mario's height.

Because the only special line is Mario's, because it's there to show a specific character's size.

Unless my perspective is off, that upper grey line can't be 200 cm; the 155 cm line is too low. I'm eyeballing it at 260 cm (8'6"). It looks like it was chosen to be Bowser's height, as the tallest main character.

Yep, I just measured it and the lowest line is 53 pixels from the characters' feet and the upper line is 73 pixels above the lowest line. So no 100 and 200 cm, but Toad and Bowser sizes.
