Or, she's treated much the way John Lennon treated his first wife, Cynthia. (Hidden from the rest of the world, but vey much alive)

Lol, but I don't think she would approve of Bowser trying to Marry a Princess. I think Bowser got married after becoming King, and his wife had 7 Children(Probably common for Healthy Koopa Females), but she Died so Bowser started looking for a new Wife, when he fell in Love with Peach. So he decided to Kidnap her, but is thwarted by her childhood Friend(And his Rival), Mario!

Mario and Peach were Childhood Friends, as seen in M&L:PiT.

So he could very well have multiple mates. I have to agree with the post that originally suggested a breeding program.

If Bowser ever had a harem, he must have had a more evil and authoritarian personality than the goofy Paper Mario Bowser. I can't imagine that guy ever being in any kind of relationship, but I guess he was more like an actual Daimao Kuppa when he was younger.

Well wow old is Bowser anyway? I think he would be around the same age as the rest of the Mario characters? So I guess the question really is around how old are the main Mario characters?

The age of the Mario characters? I have seen so many different opinions on that.. Seriously, for me, Mario and Luigi look like they're at least 35, at least. But Peach looks like she's at most 25. Since someone had the brilliant idea to make Baby Peach be only slightly younger than the Mario Bros., that means they are quite old-looking for their age. As for Bowser... he should be only a few years older than the Mario Bros., but he behaves like he's 50. I mean, he gets told to watch his blood pressure. Really, the babies make this an unsolvable riddle unless you really believe everyone is happily 25 years old.

20 pictures go down (or up) when you travel back to the past or to the future in M&L2, plus Luigi, Mario and Peach have approximatively the same age, and Luigi and Peach look quite young, so it'd be safe to assume Mario, Luigi, Peach, Waluigi and maybe Wario are between 20 and 30. Bowser must be, like, 2 years older than Mario.
Bowser isn't even an evil king. He was protrayed as being so in the originam SMB games, but in those games Mario looked like some 50 years old guy, and was even obese in SMB3. We can assume Nintendo made a change of canon (much like how the Sonic series was on Earth until Sonic Unleashed where it was on another planet yet the past adventures still happened). Now Bowser is a stupid immature angry guy who thinks he's the stronger and he's scary. The only relations he got into are his respect for Kamek, his paternity for Bowser Jr. and his rivality with Mario. I doubt he can get any friend, or someone that'd love him. That's another reason why I believe the Koopalings aren't really Bowser's children, more like modificated clones.

I don't know, maybe Bowser wasn't like that 10 years ago

He was like that ever since he was a child. During adolescence, people rarely tend to be mature enough to rule a kingdom of evilness, and certainly not when that person is Bowser.

Maybe I was giving too big of an estimate, but it can be assumed that Bowser was truly evil before the events of SMB

He must have been serious and evil at some point, or else the troops wouldn't be loyal to him. They've been loyal to the previous king and to Kamek, but 20-50 years of Bowser just bumbling around would be too much for them.

They are loyal to Bowser because he respects them, and he's a good king (although he's an horrible army chief. Hell, he even considers Goombas as "elite soldiers" !). Although the 3 traitors in M&L3 do say they start to be tired of him (but they don't mention him being better before, or anything).

Still, wouldn't they be tired of losing all the time and seeing Bowser only stomp with his foot and say "Drats!"? He is a good king, though. The civilians of Dark Land might have a better life than those of the Mushroom Kingdom.

When Bowser loses, he rarely comes out of it without something broken. Maybe that's why the Koopas hate Mario.

And if Mario hadn't stopped Bowser's plan in SMG2, the Koopas could LIVE in a cake
