I think I remember him being called Baby Bowser. Anyway, he was around before Bowser Jr.

How and why is Bowser so huge at the end of Sunshine then normal at the very later end?

I remember there being 7 Baby Bowsers on the Eternal Star board in MP1, possibly a low-polygon reference to the previous 7. They kept being called that for MP2 and MP3, but when the Cube parties appeared, they were called the "Koopa Kids". As for Bowser Jr., he was never officially called that until Sunshine.

Here's how I see it: Bowser, Bowser Jr. the Mario party koopa kids and the original koopalings, they're all of the same species. I myself call the armored koopas just to differentiate between other koopa species. The koopalings (and Bowser Jr.) are Bowser's children. I personally, think the koopa kids from the Mario part series, are not related to bowser (they call him by his first name, never dad or papa.) but just armored koopa children that managed to get hired by the koopa Klan.
Edit: Also YM, that's not how it works. When a child get a name of a parent, the parent becomes senior and the child is know as junior. You can't be born with the title senior. So if your theory was true, Bowser Jr. would be known as Bowser the 3rd

Careful with the all caps there, buddy. Yeah, I was gonna say something like "so you finally found Caps Lock?" but thought better of it.

In M&LPiT the similarities between Baby Bowser (Bowser as a young child) and Bowser Jr. are alarming. I'm thinking that Bowser Jr. could be a clone of Bowser, the Koopalings are his children, and the Koopa Kids are more clones that didn't turn out exactly right (or, as Pdoogan said, random Koopas of Bowser's kind).

I wish they hadn't changed his character design. The one the used in the Yoshi series was more accurate to what a baby armored koopa would look like. (Not to mention it was cuter.) I've always belived Bowser Jr. was a clone, even before M&L2 came out. He's just too identical looking to Bowser compared to the other koopalings.

Is everyone else okay with Bowser Jr. being a clone?

We still don't know if they might all be extinct.

If there extinct, how did the original koopaling come to be? They don't look like clones.

Is that comic official? If so, it could prove that Bowser most likely had a mate of his kind, and that others are probably still out there.
Here's a thought. What if Bowser, being the paranoid control freak he is, banished all of the armored koopas after he became king because he saw them as a threat to his throne?
