Well, how would they have known about Earth to begin with?

well i'm sure they're are some people out there who knew abot it. Mario's parents seemed to have some connection with the royal mushroom family, (as seen in PiT) so i'm guessing they might have known something. P.s: I'm writing this from my wii!

I hate typing on the Wii, but love doing it on the DSi.
On-Topic, I think we need more evidence before we can say where they're from anyway.

Well there is the whole video game/book/movie law that states that the story takes place on Earth unless stated otherwise. Or is that just the first thing that your mind thinks

On-Topic, I think we need more evidence before we can say where they're from anyway. Where they're from? The Mushroom World. YI proved that. Where they grew up? That question wasn't really answered. Nintendo never really revealed any info between the Marios being babies and adults. I hate typing on the Wii, but love doing it on the DSi. Did you know you can plug certain wireless keyboards into the USB port on the wii? I've tried it myself, it totally works!

I like your theory of the parents leaving MW to protect the Mario Bros from Kamek and Bowser. It seems like a very likely scenario and I think it might kinda explain why the parents are never mentioned or shown; it's because they are alive (they haven't been killed by any of Mario's nemeses), but they just reside in another world, and aren't really worth mentioning.
I wonder why they would go to the RW without the brothers though? Possibly, they first tried protecting the brothers by leaving them at the castle (and themselves staying in another location in MW), and when that didn't work out, they all moved to RW together as a family.

I can't think of anything off hand that disproves the theory, so it's probably good. It even makes the edutainment games not-impossible *shudder*.
So how many warp pipes are there from Mushroom Earth to Real Earth?

Nothing makes edutainment games impossible even without this. If Mario and Sonic is to be trusted (the normal events take place on Earth), then it's likely warp pipes to the real world do exist, and Mario is Missing/Mario's Time Machine would be entirely possible as a result.

Nintendo never really revealed any info between the Marios being babies and adults. We know Wario is Mario's childhood friend, and Mario didn't live in the Mushroom Kingdom at a time before Super Mario Bros. (although Mario Bros. possibly took place in the Toad Town Tunnels, and Mario and Luigi lived in the kingdom as children). Or, more precisely, he definitely took residence in the kingdom after Super Mario Bros. Nothing disproves that the Mushroom Earth has any relation to our planet, but nothing proves it either (except the fact Earth is the usual placeholder for any planet, and the American media says so). About this, I think I have my proof that the Mario Party series isn't canon: the starting planet in Astro Avenue (in Mario Party 6, I think ?) is probably Mario's home planet, but it's definitely not the Mushroom Earth, yet it's not some Earth-like placeholder.

They came too. That's why there's really no mention of Mario's childhood after they were no longer babies.

There is no mention of their childhood because nothing important happened then. The Bros simply grew up.

Well, something important happened. Mario and Wario met. Which is the only thing from Mario's childhood that is mentionned in the games, because, well, as you said, nothing interesting happened there.

There may be no evidence that they ever lived on Earth, though. This debate is pointless considering the current lack of evidence. And I'd hardly consider Mario Vs. Sonic canon.

Alright then. If more evidence shows up then I guess we can continue debating this, but until then...
I wonder if the Yoshi colors shown in the Yoshi's Island games are all the existing Yoshi colors.

FINALLY we get back on topic! I'd have helped, but you'll never learn if I keep holding your collective hands. <ontopic>Anyway, I think it's safe to say that those are all existing Yoshi colors. Considering the fact that those colors also appear in other games as well. Maybe there's even more colors of Yoshis that we haven't even seen yet. Comment, guys?</ontopic>

Are the wings Yoshis get in SMW a power-up only used by Yoshis, or could Mario theoretically gain them?

I doubt Mario would want to eat a blue Koopa Shell

I think it was said earlier in the topic that some certain chemicals in a Yoshi's mouth react with the chemicals in the shell, giving him said wings.

Of course Mario wouldn't eat a blue koopa shell, his mouth is too small!
