Ok, so one of the big questions on everybodies minds when they think about Mariology is: How many actual races are there? Well, I've thought about it and I've managed to generate a list of who I believe are the main sentient races of the Marioverse. And they are: Toads Beanbeans Koopas Goombas Shyguys Humans Piantas Nokis Yoshis Moles Nimbus's's's (I don't know how to pluralize their name ^_^) Kongs Kremlings And various kinds of anthropoids. Hmmm, that's all I can think of at the moment. Tell me if a I missed any. Here are some more 1:everything you said 2:paragoombas 3:parakoopas 4:Hammer Bros. (all types) 5:Chargin' Chucks 6:Boom-Booms 7:Bob-oms 8:Chain Chomps9:Podoboos10:Fire snakes11:Koopapatrol 12:Boos (all types) 13:Ghosts(all types) 14:Lakitus (and all other types of koopas) 15:Gloombas (and all gloom and goomba types)16:Pirahna Plants (all types) 17:Clefts (all types) 18:Buzzy Beetles (all types) 19:Dry Bones (all types) 20:Bony Beetles21:Rexes22:Albino Dino 23:Dino torch24:Mega Dino25:Dolphins 26:Hotheads27:Renzor28:Bosses 29:Jelly Blobs Which ones?30:Pokeys and so on There's no proof the underlined ones are sentinent.

As much as I think this would make a good topic, I think the sheer amount of species it way to much to list. MarioWiki has a pretty full list alread up though.

Bony Beetles are real classified enemies, I can understand Renzor not being sentinent but everything else is pretty sentinent to me P.S.(I actually do not know what sentinent means

Sentinent means capable of thinking for themselves.

Then, most of the ones you underlined are sentinent like Bony Beetles and Gloombas and the rest are not sentinent like Renzor and Hotheads or a ball and chain

Bony Beetles and Gloombas have never talked, organized society, or done anything more complicated than attacking.

But that is because they are neglected characters

and bony beetles defend and wait they are stupid enough to fall into the lava but then so are goombas

But that is because they are neglected characters It doesn't matter, there's still no proof they're sentinent because there's so little information about them.

Are these just the major species you listed then, EpicGyllyn?

Really, Shadow Goomba made a whole list that included just about every species at the top of this page

I wasn't done with the List! I had to log off when I was only part way through the List! I'll post the rest later, and it Includes Sub-Species!

I hope you get done soon - those look like the major groups, with several to dozens of species each (Koopas alone are a group of four or five dozen species, although only a dozen or so are intelligent).

I always thought the lazy man's solution to this would be just going here: www.mariowiki.com/Species and weed out the ones that are too similar to others, leaving only families (orders? I'm not good in taxonomy).

Walkazo had an entire Koopa taxonomy project (unfortunately removed from her user page by a policy decision). I disagreed with enough of it that I wrote up my own taxonomy. While we disagreed on a lot of the fine details, we agreed that there are about 50 kinds of Koopas.

50 kinds? That is very fine-grained. Do you differentiate between KP Koopas and normal Koopa Troopas?

Her list might have; mine lumps Koopa Troopas, KP Koopas, Koopatrols, Terrapins, etc. into one species Nokonoko nokonoko (half the fun was coming up with scientific-sounding names). I did split off Troopeas, Ankoopas, and Shellcreepers, though.
