IGN's released some new info of the near-finished game. - Worlds are broken up into two three-star miniworlds and two one-star challenges
- The Rainbow Star can let Mario destroy nearly anything, including Chomps
- Super Mushroom doubles life meter to 6
- A comet passes over Mushroom Earth every hundred years...
We already knew most of that stuff, the mushroom part was in a video from a while ago. They also revealed the story about a month ago. And really, did you expect the starman to do anything else?

I'm glad they're finally using the super mushroom the way I always assumed it worked, making you more resiliant to attacks, rather then making you larger. I always belived the getting bigger part was just a sort of metaphor for being stronger.

Mushroom Earth? What sort of name is that? Can't Nintendo come up with something more original like Plit for example?

It diddn't actually say "mushroom earth", it actually said mushroom kingdom, but toomai changed it into mushroom earth.
P.S. Plit is the worse fan name ever.

Yeah, Nintendo seems to be avoiding the planet's name. Although, the characters seem to call it Earth just like we do.

P.S. Plit is the worse fan name ever. At least Plit is a realistic name for a planet. We don't call Earth Human Earth or anything biased against the other species what inhabit it. Mushroom Earth is totally different to the Mushroom Kingdom. One is a country, the other is the entire planet.

I think that's a bit of a Nintendo thing. Pokemon has the same problem. They just refer to the planet as "Earth" despite the fact it obviously isn't. --------- I don't know who came up with the term "Plit" came from (Lemmy's Land perhaps). I don't like it, I never use it, it's not cannon and it just sounds silly.

Maybe there not avoiding giving the planet a name, it's just that they havn't yet had a need to give it one. Mario Galaxy might change that. Btw, comets wouldn't pass over planets they would pass "near" planets and only "over" parts of planets that are nearest to the comet relative to the part's planet for example, Mushroom kingdom. I think I do kinda remember somebody in a game calling it earth. Perhaps it is earth, only in a parralel demension. Mushroom deminsion? Lol. If they decided to name the demension that then it would be mushroom earth.....What do you think?

Depends what SMGxy (planet name) and SSBB (universe name) decide to do.

I noticed the game is called Super Mario GALAXY, so has Nintendo gave the galaxy, which the Mushroom Kingdom's planet exists in?

Sorry I missed a bit out and the modify button has dissapeared. Has Nintendo given a name to the galaxy in question in the game's title?

I don't think so. But anyway, the technical official name is Mushroom World. Check the Super Mario Bros. 3 instruction manual.

Umm.. which post are you replying to Shadowgoomba? Anyway the Mushroom World is the name of the country, I think. Aren't Mushroom Kingdom and Mushroom World the same thing?

I don't know, a few posts ago. Seems like it's the most official name for the planet we have.
