Then again, Nintendo does have problems deciding when a character is overused.

How is he over used? He's been in two(three) main games and the spinoffs. But everyone is in the spinoffs! You could easily say that Yoshi is overused.

Yoshi can be as overused as he wants because of his fanbase the size of Neptune. Jr.'s fanbase is more like Mercury.

I wouldn't be so harsh on him if he hadn't replaced 7 really great characters. Pretend Nintendo just decided to replace Yoshi with another dinosaur out of the blue, how would that make you feel?

IGN's got the opening scene. Bowser calls on some aliens to grab Peach's castle and Kamek flings Mario into space.

Oh Kamek is back too? I havn't seen him since Super Mario World 2 YI, and a small aperance in MLSSS. Also I think he was in YIDS. But by the timeline, that's still preatty much around the same time as SMW2YI. I always wondered if he had changed any over the years and MLSSS gave a slight insight into that.

In the begining of Super Paper Mario, there's a single magikoopa standing right next to Bowser. Even though he doesn't say anything, I assume it Kamek. He also makes an appearence in some of the Mario Party games. I'm glad to see he's making a comback. ------------- As for the opening movie: YES! That was the greatest thing in the history of great things!  |

Kamek was also in PiT. But I'm glad that he's back. First enemy in the Mario series with speech in-game.

One thing confuses me though, see that huge halo of a planet in the backround? Is that the mushroom world and the whole system is rather small, or is that an entire galaxy and the mushroom world is located within it? |

O wow, that's pretty cool. It looks more like a planet to me, but I guess it could be the galaxy. I sopose we'll just have to wait until the game comes out to know for sure.

Well, we know that the "hub" world is an observatory, where Mario can go to the many galaxies. This looks like a solar system (standard galaxy), with each planet representing a level.

1: a bee mushroom
2: a boo mushroom
3: The fire flower
4: The ice flower
5: Starman
6: a spring mushroom

It's good that old-school style power-ups are back after not being in the other two 3-D games. (Sunshine debatably has some though)

IGN's released some new info of the near-finished game. - Worlds are broken up into two three-star miniworlds and two one-star challenges
- The Rainbow Star can let Mario destroy nearly anything, including Chomps
- Super Mushroom doubles life meter to 6
- A comet passes over Mushroom Earth every hundred years...
