In other regions of the kingdom (such as the regions in SMRPG, or Rogueport) Peach is more seen as a celibrity than as the president. I think she indeed only rules the regions of Paper Mario, M&L2 and M&L3.

In some kingdoms, the royal children would be given their own domains to rule, subordinate to the monarch. This system didn't work very well on Earth since the usual results were a division of the kingdom or civil war, but that might be what's going on in the MK. King Toadstool is ruling in Mushroom City, Princess Peach has the southeast, and some other rulers are ruling other parts of the kingdom.

While I see where you are going, Sarisa, I'm still strongly clinging to Toad Town being the Capitol, and as such, the Monarch should rule there. I don't see Peach as having much Political power in the Kingdom, seeing as she is only a Princess. But that theory does make me remember my concept that the Mushroom World(SMB3) is a part of the Mushroom Kingdom, and that each of the "Worlds" are just Regions of it. I remember it all now, and I referred to the Mushroom-BeanBean Continent as "Mushroom Land"... I remember it all now! Thanks!

Peach does have some form of political power since she did organize the meeting about the blorbs

I know that she has "some" power, but I'm assuming the Mushroom Chancellor handles the vast majority of Politics, in and about the Mushroom Kingdom.

Speaking of Chancellor, where is he?
And don't say that he's Toadsworth. He's just Peach's caretaker.

Didn't he show up briefly in one of the Paper Mario games? I think it was the first one.

Yes, actually.
Point of fact, I believe that was actually the last time that we ever saw the Chancellor before Toadsworth's debut in Sunshine.
Come to think of it, I think I've only ever seen the Chancellor twice. Once in SMRPG and the other in Paper Mario.

Guys, the Chancellor/Minister is just Bowser in disguise anyway (You heard it here first).
Serioulsy, he's just not important to the story of recent games, hence why he hasn't appeared.

If the Chancellor is Bowser then why would he bother kidnapping Peach? (Yes I know you were joking)

The Chancellor is the minister of the Mushroom Cabinet, and replaces Peach's role when she's kidnapped when Mario is busy saving her (he doesn't appear in M&L3 because the castle couldn't be accessed due to Fawful, and he doesn't appear in M&L2 because everyone's in the castle, busy saving Peach - when you think of it, Mario and Luigi didn't quit the Mushroom Castle in the present.

Wait, Peach's official bios already said multiple times she's the ruler of the Mushroom Kingdom.

Yes but is it simply ceremonial, complete leadership, or joint-leadership

As others of said already on this thread, I think the king is dead and Peach has assumed leadership, with the Chancellor acting as her adviser. She's still called a 'Princess' simply because she has yet to marry. Once she and Mario eventually tie the knot, the reign of 'King Mario' and 'Queen Peach' will finally begin (oooh, I like the sound of that).

And then of course Mario becomes bored of the MK and expands his reach to the real world and becomes president of the universe because Bill Gates gets a heart attack when he picks up a penny

I think they'd have gotten around to renaming it if it were a republic. What about the United Kingdom? Is that republic or am I getting my facts wrong?
