With a North American realease date set for November 21, I thought it was high time to spread the love of DKC Returns. Behold, glorious boxart! www.dkvine.com/newnews/images/DKCR_Box_Art_Hi_Res.jpgLovingly stolen from DK Vine. Does the boxart remind anyone else of the original DKCs? Feel free to express any love you may have/develop for this game now.

No Kremlings? That's fail trombone for me. There's probably no trace of Funky, Candy or Cranky either, just to be mean to us, and certainly no trace of the other Kongs.
Also, it's all jungly on the box, and in the gameplay we've seen, but to be honest, Nintendo's jungles look really bland compared to Rare's. I hope it's less than a third of the game.

They've already confirmed that other Kongs will be returning.

Well, let's hope they don't mess that up, then.

While I am dissapointed about lack of water levels, it's good to know Animal Buddies are returning too. And not the Jungle Beat ones, who were made because they thought DKC characters weren't "fresh" enough.
Something interesting I read is that Retro is actually taking inspiration from not only the DKCs, DKLs, and DK64, but also Banjo-Kazooie for musical influences.

Well, as long as the soundtrack doesn't turn out to be the unlistenable crap that Jungle Beat's was, it's good.

Thankfully, from the box art, Rambi's in. Hope the other Animal Buddies will be as well.
And yeah, no Kremlings is freaking inexcusable. Well, we think they won't be in, they never actually mention the word 'Kremling' for some reason in their denials.

Rambi was always my least favourite from all the Animal Buddies. He's generic, and his only charactics are "can dash" and "takes out enemies if hit with his horn". What I would really like to see is Rattly or Squitter, but since they're not from the original DKC, there's probably going to be Winky and Expresso. Oh, wow, higher jump and faster movement. How game-changing. I liked the partners who have their own movements that facilitate puzzles, like Ellie and Squitter.

I don't know, Indigo, it seems so... talentless to me. I can't really put why, though. You know, sometimes the simplest music is incredibly catchy, like "The Elevator" from VB Wario Land ( sites.google.com/site/artemendo/08TheElevator.mp3 ), and sometimes things with grand production value are simply bad. You mean you'd rather have someone smaller? Well. No matter how much I criticize this game now, I am going to buy it, and hopefully it really won't screw things up.

To be honest, I have plenty of confidence, I mean, it's got other Kongs, animal buddies, Diddy Kong, stuff from Donkey Kong 64, music remixes, Kong letters, barrel cannons and bonus rooms. It's made by freaking Retro Studios of Metroid Prime fame. It's not like Jungle Beat where they didn't give a grrr about anything to do with the old series.
Really, with that stuff, it's extremely hard to mess this game up. Heck, even the logo is the same as the old games!

I love this trailer. I seriously love the way the crowd starts cheering when the bananas are being collected. www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVq7XNV7K0wFeel free to post any video/screenshots of the game in this thread, if you so choose. I probably won't be getting it day one, but I will be getting it for sure.

Well we sort of already knew about the returning animal buddies, and Rambi was pretty much guarenteed for this game, so... not much to say

You bet it is, and honestly, I think the Tikis are more appropriate enemies for Donkey Kong, I mean, Indigo's right, the Kremlings never really seemed to... Fit? I like the Jungles too, in fact, I never liked the look of the original games, it just seemed too obscure and different for me. I like how the new one looks more fitting for the Mario-verse.

That's where we disagree. I loved the look of the old games. After all, it was revolutionary at the time. Heck, DKC3 still looks good. The graphics were a part of the feel.
I also love the Kremlings. I think they're appropriate for DK anytime.
In the end though, I still can't wait to see it all on my TV screen.

If at the end or at some point they actually mention K. Rool, then I will be happy

I'd love that, but I don't think it'll happen.
Then again, I never imagined Mario and Sonic would be in the same game on the same console, so hopefully I'm wrong.

If I were to invent a time machine, and go back to the start of the First Console War(don't laugh, the CW's are an important part of Gaming History), and tell them one day Mario and Sonic would compete in the Olympic Games together on a Nintendo Console, they would put me in an insane asylum. It's true!
