Yeah. How could have "Yoshi" Yoshi quited his island anyway ?
Yes, I know "Yoster" Yoshi quits his island for the sport events, but it's most likely because of the Daisy Cruiser.

Alright, here are my explanations for the issues raised in this thread"
1. Yoshi's Island and "Yoster Island" are the same place, but the geography changed over time. Think about it: Mushroom World has some of the most chaotic geography ever, what with move platforming and growing/shrinking mountains. It's not unusual to assume that in the time that passed between YI and SMW, Yoster Island began to split into fragments which then drifted away from one another, creating Dinosaur Land in the process. Maybe in another 20 years or so they'll begin to float into the sky, forming another Galaxy.
2. The Yoshi in YI and the Yoshi from SMW onward are different Yoshies but are not necessarily related. After YI, the Yoshies fell into a depression, prompting six baby Yoshies to take on the task of fighting Baby Bowser. It could be assumed that the green Yoshi in this game is the son of the green Yoshi from YI, but that's inconclusive. After YS, the events of YIDS take place. YIDS's ending shows a newborn baby green Yoshi alongside the rest of the baby cast. This is clearly meant to be the same green Yoshi we see in the present day Mario games, starting with SMW. Whether or not he's the son of the green Yoshi from YI is never brought up, so there's no way to prove it either way.

So actually you didn't read the entire thread, right ?
Yoster Island appears in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time and Super Mario World (and Super Mario RPG). Yoshi Island appears in Super Mario World 2, Yoshi's Island DS and Mario Tennis 64. But these games happen in that order, chronolically: - Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - Yoshi's Island DS - Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (well, the past events, at least) - Super Mario World - Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - Mario Tennis
So in order you have Yoshi, Yoshi, Yoster, Yoster, Yoster, Yoshi. I... don't think it's the same place. Plus the MW doesn't have a messed up geography. Aeras that are irrelevant to the game are simply taken out. In-universe, they don't disappear and re-appear magically.

That's a good catch. The obvious interpretation is that Yoster Island (Yōsutā-tō) is the Yoshi island close to the Mushroom Kingdom mainland (though just where may be unrecoverable, since SMRPG is the most recent source unless PiT has an overworld map) and Yoshi Island could be anywhere.
If it weren't for Mario Tennis, a name change would be plausible, but they must be separate locations.

Except for the fact he's said to be "Toad", not "a Toad". Plus it's not because they have the same name as their species that they aren't specific characters. Yoshi is a Yoshi. You could also say there's no unique Yoshi. Quoted for great truth. To add some substantive content to this post, the character/generic conflation goes a bit differently in Japan: "Toad" and "Mushroom Retainers" are the same in Japanese, "Kinopio". "Kinopio" wasn't converted into a species name until SMRPG - before that the term was "Kinoko-(ichi)zoku", which remains in use but properly covers both Toads and Goombas.

I was just offering a possible explanation for why the island shrunk. There is absolutely no evidence therein that Yoshi's Island and "Yoster Island" are different places. Hell, your excuse that you simply don't see the areas not shown in the game seems to be working against your theory.
