Don't even remind me about those terrible games. Nothing good came out of them except for Weegee so I don't think it should be counted as canon. I was actually refering to the Story Luigi recaps during PM:TTYD(Which I don't think happened BTW!), but if you're talking about Mario is Missing or Hotel Mario, then I agree. NONCANON! Uhmm.. Sorry for my Outburst. *Straightens Tie then walks Away*

Wow I must not have read that entire post. The second I heard time traveling and not real in the same sentence I thought you were talking about Mario's Time Machine

Oh, well, I see how you could make that mistake! Also, I agree, Mario's Time Machine is definately Non-canon. As for Mario geography, in the Paper Mario 3DS screenshots, there was a Forest featuring Purple Poison, as well as a Wiggler, so it could be World 5 in NSMB/Wii, so we'll probably get a name and location for it(And possibly other Worlds) when it is released! So, we should start speculating. And we should also give nicknames to the Worlds so we can mark on the Map. Here's mine so far: World 1-Mushroom Plains(I've been calling it that longer than MarioWiki) World 2-Shifting Sands(South DryDry Desert) World 3-Shiver Mountain(I actually think it takes place on the foothills of Shiver Mountain) World 4- (It's probably Water Land or at least in the same area) World 5- (We'll get a name when Paper Mario 3DS is released) World 6- (Possibly the Mountain Range that's on the Mushroom-BeanBean Border, or maybe Lands End, or Both!) World 7-Nimbus Kingdom(This would be true if the second or third Theory on W6 is true, placing Bean Valley at the base of the Mountains) World 8-Koopa Kingdom/Dark Land(An Island nation East of Mushroom Land) I'm not listing World 9 because it's arguably, Non-Canon, but if I had to guess I would say "Star Road" from SMRPG.

Actually, here are the names (I don't know if they are canon but they are the most used ones):
NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. - World 1 : The Mushroom Plains - World 2 : The Desert - World 3 : The Beach - World 4 : The Forest - World 5 : The Snow Plains - World 6 : The Canyon - World 7 : The Sky - World 8 : Bowser's Badlands
NEW SUPER MARIO BROS. WII - World 1 : The Mushroom Plains - World 2 : Sea of Sand - World 3 : Penguins' Playground - World 4 : Sparkle Ocean - World 5 : Toxic Forest - World 6 : Stone-Head Mountains - World 7 : Cloud Castle Grounds - World 8 : Bowser's Volcano - World 9 : Rainbow Path
Do not forget the spin-offes can't act on the main series, thus places like the Nimbus Kingdom won't appear in a platformer. Also, the forest you see in PM3DS may be a third "poison forest". If there are two of them, there can be three.

The poison forests probably all exist in the same region though.

Also, locations from the Spin-offs DO appear in the Platformer Games! Toad Town has(It originated in Paper Mario or SMRPG, if you count it). and the Forever Forest/Boo Woods area has(first seen in Paper Mario). The concept of Sky Land evolved into the Nimbus Kingdom, so why can't they be the same thing? EDIT:Also, why cant the locations from NSMB and NSMBWii be the same regions? I mean, they're basically the same locations.

Toad Town first appeared in Mario Bros. The town's sewers are the game's main place.
Also, the levels in NSMB are all going to the East while three-and-a-half levels in NSMBW are going to the North.

But they could still be in the same Tundra/Beach/Forest, just in different parts of said Region. I have trouble accepting the names from MarioWiki, though.

What ? MarioWiki doesn't have names for the worlds. What are you talking about ?
I personally think NSMBW's World 1 is a redesign of NSMB's World 1, NSMB World 2 and NSMBW World 2 are in the same region (a desert that isn't Dry Dry Desert or Gritzy Desert, let's call it Sea of Sand), and from there things go differently (however it'd appears both "snow" worlds are around Shiver Mountain).

See the "List of Worlds" section of MarioWiki, then scroll down till you get to NSMBW.
I thought MarioWiki made them up. As for "Sea of Sand" if we must cal it that, if it's not in DryDry Desert(Which I'm still Leaning for), it is definately in the same are as Shifting Sand Land from SM64(Which I also think is in the DryDry Desert area).
Heres my temporary List of Regions in the Mushroom Kingdom: 1)Mushroom Plains - The largest Region in the Kingdom and home to Toad Town, as well as several smaller Locations such as Forever Forest and Thwomp Valcano. It is also home to many Villages such as Rose Town and Goomba Village. 2)DryDry Desert - The largest Desert, located in the South-eastern portion of the Kingdom, it only has one major Town(DryDry Outpost), but it is home to many unique Geographic locations such as Gusty Gulch and Desert Hill. It is also riddled with Ruins and Pyramids a-plenty. 3)Shiver Snowfields - An Tundra to the North that is filled with surrounded by Mountains(Most notably, Shiver Mountain), it is famous for housing Locations like Shiver City and Starborn Valley. 4)*Sparkle Shores(Sparkle Ocean may be the name of the Body of Water, but not the Landmass) - A Beach and Chain of Tropical Islands off Coast of the Mushroom Kingdom, while the exact location is unkown, I'm sure it's located in the Southern part of the Kingdom. It is possibly the location of Seaside Town. 5)*Toxic Forest - A humongous Forest filled with a Poisonous, Purple Liquid. Though we have yet to see any trace of Civilized Society, the forest is home to many Wigglers, and littered with Giant, Koopa Shells. 6)*StoneHead Mountains - A Mountain Range, possibly on the Mushroom-BeanBean Border. The mountains have very strange, Spial Formation, and countless Warp Pipes are found scattered abroad. 7)*Rougeport Area - The region surrounding the City of Rougueport, it has strangely diverse Climates, despite it's size(No larger than the other Regions).

... How could the Stone-Head Mountains be at the Mushroom/Beanbean border when they're definitely to the east ?

Nice point Koopalmier! I hadn't even noticed that! So, that Theory is shot. Well, where are they? I'll get to thinking!

Something about the the whole "the next world is right to the east of this one" seems doubtful to me. You don't really see Mario going directly from one world to another in the NSMB games you see him exit one world and then when the screen goes to the next world you see him appear there. Who knows the "Worlds" in the NSMB games might actually be some distance from each other. The Mountain Range actually could be the Beanbean border if Mario follwed Bowser Jr. around the mountains and then entered from the left.

The game shows Mario going to the right, then appearing from the left. The simpliest theory is that the camera is really pointing to the north.
Additionnaly, the mountains between the MK and the BK are partly blue, partly brown while the mountains in NSMB and NSMBW are grey.
EDIT: Also, look at the bottom screen in NSMB. This is most likely the direction Mario's going to.

I agree with KingKoopa. I think Mario's 2D Adventures involve various forms of Travel in various Directions. So(in NSMBW) Mario would start at Toad Town, go South-East to the Desert, then travels North to the foothills of Shiver Mountain, boards a Boat and follows Bowser Jr.'s Airship South to an Island, where he works his way in-land(South-West) across a Chain of Islands. When he reaches the Mainland(Where the Castle is), he travels North-West through the Forest until he reaches the Mountains. Once he has ascended the Peaks reaching the Airship, which Mario then follows the Nimbus Kingdom. Though, I don't know how Mario got all the way to the Koopa Kingdom(Dark Land) after that! Maybe he stowed away on one of the Airships(But not the one Peach was on), or perhaps the Nimbus people helped him like in SMRPG! Oh well, he reached the Koopa Kingdom(In the East) and defeated Bowser. The End!

Dark Land ? ... Isn't that the made-up name from NoA for the small island Bowser temporarly took over during the events of SMB3 ? It is quite obvious since Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga that Bowser's "main" castle is on the Mushroom Kingdom.

Yes, the name was made up by NoA, but that's what most Americans call it. And no, it's the homeland of the Koopas, not just some Island he took over! Bowser does have one castle on a Mountain/Island to the NorthWest of tMK's mainland(As seen in SMRPG and PiT, I'm not sure about SS though). Though it technically is a part of tMK, Bowser owns the Koopa Kingdom(As seen in SMB3, SM64, NSMB, NSMBW, and Bowsers' Inside Story)! Bowser used to have a third Castle in Dinosaur Islands that was destroyed at the end of Yoshi's Island, which is probably why he moved to the Island in tMK, and he eventually inherited Castle Koopa, and the Kingdom itself, from his Father.

Dark Land is pretty much the world 8 of most Mario games. (Of course it isn't the World 8 of any game that didn't take place in the Mushroom Kingdom) It does seem that Bowser's main castle is in the Mushroom Kingdom but that area could be Dark Land that is connected to the Mushroom Kingdom (Notice how in Super Mario Bros 3 you don't see the entirety of the land that Dark Land is connected to).

You make a good point, but this would make the Mushroom Earth much, much smaller than the Real World, when it's easily twice as large! Plus, Bowser's Keep is on a Mountain Island with no lava at all, while the Koopa Kingdom is a Volcanic Wasteland that is always depicted as being to the East. Also, Koopamier, perhaps the Mountains are only blue-hued on the BeanBean side of the Range, or maybe it's just an Art Direction, or maybe I'm just wrong, who knows?

What ? You clearly see in SMB3 that Dark Land is simply a small island. Also, how could Dark Land be the World 8 of NSMB and NSMBW ? Mario don't have a boat in those games, and the "hard clouds" land that is the nearest of Dark Land is Sky Land. Here's a list of Bowser's castles: - on a small isle near Yoshi's Island (Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island) (was abandoned) - somewhere in the north-west of the MK (Mario & Luigi 2) (was abandoned or given to Bowser's children) - on a mountain to the north-east of the MK (Super Mario Bros.) (was abandonded) - , maybe in the east of the MK (Super Mario Bros.: TLL) (was abandoned) - on a small and rugged island (WITH NO LAVA. <_<") (Super Mario Bros. 3) (was abanonded) - unknow section of Dinosaur Island (Super Mario World) (was abandoned) - on a mountain to the west of the MK (Super Mario RPG), was remade into an underground castle that could fly (Paper Mario) (was destroyed) - in a lava sea on the other side of a mountain range, in the south-west of the MK (main castle for now, next castles are only to kill Mario) (M&L1's credits, PM2, SPM, M&L3)- other castles are only traps Dark Land doesn't have: - a lava sea (it has a sea but it's more like red water, boiling water or tomato sauce) - a water point (NSMB) - anything the current Bowser Castle has Seriously, the only similarity is the fact it's a rocky aera with some volcanoes.
