In DDR: Mario Mix, the Music Keys had the same effect. Maybe the fact that Bowser is defeated, even for a while, always causes Dark Land to become happy for a brief period of time?

In SMRPG, Bowser's Castle became "happy" WHEN it was Bowser's property again. And DDR: Mario Mix was extremely cheesy and kiddish anyway. The only good part of it was Waluigi.

Well, it became happy because Smithy was far more evil than Bowser, and to mark the going from really evil to slightly evil, it's become happy.
The only good part of it was Waluigi? Yep. Oh, and Always Smiling.
♫Smile will bring the sunshine day♫

Where is Star Haven, Star Road/Path and the like Located? My Theory:Star Haven exist in a Spirit Realm, and Star Path is a Bridge between it and the Physical Realm. Star Path is completely Invisible, though, but it's Energy could manifest in the form of Rainbow Road, but thats just Wishful Thinking.

Guy, you just gave me an idea! Perhaps there seems like there are more regions in the Mushroom Kingdom than there really are because the games take place in different seasons! Think about it, Northern regions may be covered in snow in winter, but look more forest-y in summer. This would explain why all the different climates seem so crammed together.

Well, that IS a good Idea, I won't deny, but I don't think they are really crammed that Close together, probably some Distance from each other actually.

However the Shiver Zone is called "Great North" in my version. I doubt they'd call Great North a place that is only cold at the end of the year.

Well i doubt that ALL regions are like that. But things can look pretty different depending on the seasons. Think of Alaska.

Don't mean to go Off-Topic, but here is my Geography of Mushroom Land: A)The Mushroom Kingdom - The Northern-Most Nation on the Continent. -Mushroom Plains:Central Region that Connects all other Portions of the Kingdom Together. -DryDry Desert:Mid-Eastern Portion of the Kingdom, an Arid Region mostly, but the farther East the more Oasis-like it becomes. -Sparkle Isles(Tentative Title):A Beautiful Seashore and a Chain of Tropical Islands. Separated from DryDry Desert by a Gulf. -Shiver Snowfield:The Northern-Most Mainland on the Planet, it is Bordered by a Mountain Range. -Toxic Forest(Tentative Title):A Forest filled with a Strange, Acidic Liquid. The Forest borders the Sparkle Isles to the East, and DryDry Desert to the North-East. -StoneHead Mountains(Tentative Title):A Mountain Range that Separates the Mushroom Kingdom from its Neighbor, the BeanBean Kingdom. Lies on the South-Western Edge of Toxic Forest.
B)The BeanBean Kingdom - The Southern Nation on the Continent, and, while being a Massive Nation, pales in Comparison to the Mushroom Kingdom. -BeanBean Outskirts:The Larger Piece of Land at the Center of the Nation. The BeanBean equivalent of Mushroom Plains. -StarDust Fields:In the Northern Kingdom, it is very Bizarre looking Terrain. -HooHoo Mountain:The only Significant Mountain within the Borders of the Kingdom. -TeeHee Valley:A Desert, surprisingly, one of the Kingdoms Northern regions. -ChuckleHuck Woods:A Forest in the South-West, it is Famous as the Original Location of Chuckola Cola.

I like it, it seems to fit all the areas together. Where do you place Giant Land and Pipe Maze though?

Just wondering, why is it generally assumed that the "Lands" of SMB3 are parts of the Mushroom Kingdom? Their rulers have the title of "king" and Peach doesn't have a title that implies rulership of kings (she's universally titled "princess"). IRL rulers who have "kings" as subordinates claim a title like "high king", "king of kings", or "emperor".

Well, back in the day SMB3 was released, it was quite clear that the lands are all different and the Mushroom Kingdom doesn't even get visited during the course of the game. However, then came the cartoon that put all lands together into a big Mushroom Kingdom, and there's also the fact we never saw those kings again that people have begun to think they were less like kings and more like dukes or something.
[Every time I mention anything under the diachronic point of view (i.e. there is no canon as much as a progression of canon), people get mad, though. I guess because the real world doesn't work that way, but Mario has a lot of stuff that's not like the real world. Just because we can't say "it was history but isn't history anymore now" on Earth doesn't mean it wouldn't work in the Mushroom Kingdom. Or Mushroom Kingdom + surrounding lands. You get my drift.]

I watched the cartoon some back in the day, but missed that detail of the plot. Also, I don't consider the cartoon primary canon (fighting words!) - it's tertiary canon. It's a good source of information, but when it conflicts with the games IMO the cartoon has to yield. Of course, my title argument doesn't prove that the other kings haven't been mediatized. Then again, Peach doesn't even have a formally sovereign title - "hime" is a Japanese title for any highborn woman ("king's daughter" is specifically "oujo", a subset of "hime") that has come to mean "princess" in the fairy-tale sense. So title-based arguments like mine don't work. Which leads me to yet another stupid question - where do we see Princess Peach actually ruling her kingdom? It's not unheard of for high nobles to have their own courts independent of the royal court, and if Peach is a princess but not a ruling princess it would explain how the Mushroom Kingdom remains functional.

Peach is a "party-karty" princess, whose only function it is to get kidnapped. Paper Mario hints that she's a wise ruler, and M&L:BiS has her actually doing something useful in the beginning (also, the SMB manual states her magic can undo Bowser's power, total nonsense by today's standards), but other than that, she doesn't really do much of anything.

Well, that explains why there's no Queen Toadstool, and why "Princess" Rosalina doesn't rule a kingdom. And Peach is never shown to rule the kingdom, but is mentionned to. She even complains about it in Paper Mario, and her body "lacking training" (in the words of the Shadow Queen) indirectly means she works so much that she doesn't have time to do stuff, or move, or whatever (but in the sports events).

IRL rulers who have "kings" as subordinates claim a title like "high king", "king of kings", or "emperor". We've had a Discussion on this before, but you weren't here Soooo: At least some of the Kingdoms from SMB3 are a Part of the Mushroom Kingdom, and actually signify Regions of said Nation. The exceptions(In my Personal Opinion) being the Koopa Kingdom(Dark Land), and Pipe Maze(Maybe a part of tMK, but not a Region). Also, look at Sarasa Land, it's one Nation that is made up of 4 "Kingdoms", yet all are Ruled by Daisy. Another thing I did, was apply the Title of "Land" to be a Mushroom World term for Continent. So Sarasa Land would be sort-of like Australia, in the way that it is both a Kingdom, and Continent(Even though the Mushroom Kingdom's mainland is easily Twice as Large). Feel free to Agree or Disagree.

You know, maybe that not every country on the MW has the same system for that. I mean, for instance, France isn't divided in multiple states like the USA, and actually has a different classing system for regions. Maybe that Sarasaland is made of 4 kingdoms ruled by the same person, but the Mushroom World (the collections of lands in SMB3) is like the European Union, basically an union of different countries.
And why'd some of the kingdoms in SMB3 be part of the Mushroom Kingdom ? They aren't ruled by Princess Peach.

We don't know that, and the Kings refer to her as "Their Princess"(I think). Besides, I think Art had the Right Idea with the progressive Canon thing.
