I don't think I've ever read anywhere that the Boos were either dead or invisible.

They turn transparent in M64.

Well, there's a different between naturally being invisible and being able to turn invisible.

the reason mario can hurt them is because they are not technicly ghosts
toad's ghost look just like them(the toads themselves)

Heh, this had me thinking for a while. The only thing I can come with is that perhaps they're ghosts of an extinct species. I mean, we don't see anything that looks like a boo that isn't dead, and we know that it must take the form of what it was when it was alive, due to the Toad's ghost example. So perhaps they're a species that died out before Mario was born and they still haunt the Mushroom Kingdom.

There's a thought.

Boo's might not get hurt from being transparent because they could move their molecules and break apart to pass through walls and Mario.

What happens to living organisms when they die in the Mushroom Dimension? Do they always become ghosts or what?

maybe i dont think they're ghosts at all i think the boos are a entirely different speceis. beacause ghosts would'nt get hurt at all mario can hurt king boo.

Ghosts can get hurt in M64 and such.

That reminds me about Yoshi's (in SM64DS) inability to do anything to Boos. He can't swallow them (they yell at him), jumping and pounding don't work, and he can't get eggs from anywhere in the courtyard.

Of course they can. All you have to do is wait until they're solid and then punch their lights out. How do you think you beat the Big Boo?

Maybe Yoshi's bodily system isn't able to digest boos, while Tubba Blubba can..for...some reason..
