I still don't understand. Here's what I'm seeing in my mind, looking from the south toward Toad Town and the front of the castle. Toad Town is to the south of the castle with hills to the north that sort of block the view of Toad Town from the castle. Then, north of the hills, there is a plain (where the golf course is) with the castle in the middle. To the east are more hills, and beyond those hills, further east, is Shooting Star Summit. Wouldn't turning the castle 180 degrees simply make it face the north, opposite the direction that Toad Town is in?
Or is my geography wrong? Am I forgetting something?

Theme park eh...
I'd say more like a resort get-away. When you think of theme parks you think of places like Great America. A resort would more have golf courses.
Or it could be a theme park since there's go karts, mabey it's just huge.

I think it's possible some of them were theme parks, but I don't think they all were. They're too similar to real places.

Ooh yes, that looks perfect. Too bad I can't post the map I made of the inside of the castle, It was based off the Paper Mario version, but got erased when my hard drive was reformatted. And I don't feel like playing through the whole game again to figure out the shape of every room.

Well, I think the redesign of Peach's castle featured in PiT has been scrapped. Now, according to Super Princess Peach, the castle is back to its old self. So your map is current again, YM.
