I'm not sure if I should have put this in culture but whatever.
I've been thinking what a lot of objects would feel like if they where real. Thats why this is called textures.
Lets start in Yoshi's Island. The breakable colored dirt, that would most likly feel like compacted sand.
What do you think the "grass" would feel like? Strange fluffy grass?

I don't know. I'd think most things in the Mushroom Dimension would be more pleasing to the touch than things in our world. The grass is probably soft.

The thing I'd be interested in would be whether they actually moved or not. We can see in several games the backgrounds actually exhibiting quite a bit of (seemingly) independant motion.

Most of the stuff in SMS moves normally.
Yes... pleasing to the touch...
Touching is good...

Ha.
It seems like a lot of objects that aren't intelligent in our world are in our world. Probably just a difference in dimension.

That's what I get for not proofreading. I meant to say, "It seems like a lot of objects that aren't intelligent in our world are intelligent in their world. Probably just a difference in dimension." Stupid me.

That's what I mean. In our world, an object is inanimate, or unintelligent. In Mario's world, it would probably have eyes and be animate and intelligent.

Also the trees in Mario Kart: Double Dash!! They were moving and lively. And I think they're just one step closer to being sentient than the trees in our world. That's why they move and have eyes.

So their alive but don't move.
Oh just like the old tree guy ( in Paper Mario ) thats the door to Flower Fields.
Which also brings up how a cloud can live...
And how do the clouds in SMB have faces?

I'd say they're somewhat related to the cloud puff enemies in PM, so they're sentient.
