But he says before the battle something to the effect of "As long as we have this Star Spirit, Bowser says we can do whatever we want." That probably includes rampaging through town stealing things.

Shy Guys are very smart, just not wise since they went up against Mario. General Guy seems to be the leader of all the Toy Box Shy Guys and probably has respect from other shy guys.

Since he's a general, he might belong to a larger army. That army would likely be headed by a king, I would think. But I understand where Toomai's coming from; the Shy Guys don't seem like team players.

That's a very general statement, and shy guys are almost always in a group.
Actually I can't think of when shy guys are alone in any game....

They may not be alone, but that doesn't neccessarily mean they work together. Each may have their own agenda, or maybe they just happen to band together because they realize that they're weak and can't stop a hero alone.

Their motherland is most likely Yoshi's island of somthing similar, considering there's such a large population and tribal rituals. As for central athority...well they don't seem to have much of an organized goverment. And they seem to be everywhere, so I can't reely figure that one out. They seem smart enough to be able to make one.

There seem to be more Shy Guys than any other species in the Marioverse, considering that Yoshis eat them. Unlike Goombas, they can't be "recycled".

I think that shy guys were origanaly from YI and that Mario meet with them when he was a baby. Subcon isn't really real, and Mario only drempt of them because of memories from his childhood subconcious mind. Ratsos are memories of squeaks. Wart, maby he is a memory of Bowser. In YI2 Big Bowser gose back in time to still babies. If sub-con were real, it's location would probably be in a different dimension.

If Subcon is real, it could be the homeland of the Shy Guys. If it's not, then Yoshi's Island sounds reasonable.

I think the shy guys were bannished to subcon by bowser after they rebelled against him.

I don't think subcon exist outside the mind, and that enemies in subcon are a part of the dreamer's subconsious memory.

Sniffits are just shy guys with gas gun masks on. And bandits are probobly evolved shy guys. Shy guys don't seem to be hard core thives like bandits, the're more of the prankster type.

I favour the theory of Shy Guys being a broken, undeveloped society... no nation of their own... many still Tribal... GG is the leader of a single Army, that has only sworn allegiance to Bowser...
