No I'm certain it was one of those domes, see
"Whack the striped molehills until you find one that goes down when you whack it. Whack it 10 times total".
Whacka dies after you hit him 8 times or something

...Can't say I've ever heard of that. But I haven't palayed Paper Mario in a while so I could have just forgotten. -------- And I think whakka get angry and leaves the third time you hit him.

I haven't played Paper Mario 2 in over a year and I still remember most of it.
Also are you talking about the 1st one or the 2nd one?

There's a Wakka you hit and he gives you Wakkas Bump.
A Wakka is a mole not a dome.
And the vinnila dome isn't living it's just a large dome probably eroded away on the outside by the waterfalls and rivers around it.

Also when you hit one of them with your hammer I think they give you something in Paper Mario 2 He's talking about the blue/aqua poles in the foreground, the Candy Canes. They do look like mini-domes.

Pic of Candy Canes: Click hereIn PM1, there was one who always looked at you that you could run around for health. In PM2, you could hit one multiple times for a Horsetail.

I think all domes start out as living objects. Then, when they die, they are usually hollowed out like the vanilla dome.

Those things that you are talking about are gigantic trees. There's proof in Mario Golf and in Super Mario World. Maby some other games.

We're talking about the domes in the pic on the first page of this topic.
What's the proof they're trees in SMW?

I recall in SMW when you blow up Ludwigs castle, if flys away and he a big dome in the distance, after that, you'll see on the map screen, it has a bandage on it's...uh, "head". I don't think they would put an bandage on an non-living object. Weather it's a plant or not is hard to say, I always thought they were myself, considering they're green. They also resemble some species of cactus, only without the spines.

Being reefs would make sense, because that would leave them open for more vegetation to grow on them. (Which has happened.)

They are trees. Proof in SMW is that they grow frequently. A mountain wouldn't grow like that. Even more proof in Mario Golf TT. If you hit a ball on top of one, it says tree. They all seem to have extreemly thick foliage. Some probly have thicker foliage than others. Sometimes, especialy in windy conditions, dirt might get traped in the realy big and thick ones. Combined with dead leaves and compacted over time, it would make an ideal soil compound for new plants to grow on top. Windy conditions would also add in the new plant's seeds arrival at the tops of realy tall ones.

But the seem hard, atleast the little ones do in the PM games (the ones along the road of Petal Medows and Koopa Trail) I'm not exactly sure of the consistensy, but they definately seem solid.

Maby some kind of super durable leaf? Keep in mind that the biology in PM games and Yoshi Story are othen altered to better fit the "paper" and "story book" themes.
Sorta reminds me of willow trees.
