Or perhaps every race has its own language, but there's a universal language they all speak (besides the really isolated groups, such as SOME Yoshis) that either is or is similar to English. That way each race preserves its heritage without sacrificing its ability to deal with other peoples.

Ahhh, we've got a Mario Esperanto theory. ^_^

I just think it simplifies things to have most creatures speak english. Sub titles suck.

But there's also dubbing. Although, there's no real proof of any species aside from the Yoshis speaking anything other than English, so it's a stretch.

Things that spoke english: Kamek, Bowser, the Koopalings, and almost everyone in Super Mario Sunshine thats not an enemy. Toadsworth, Piantes, and everyone else. I forgot and don't know how to spell their names. Nearly every charecter in Paper Mario: All the bosses, putrid plants, Anti Guy, Nomadamouse, Sheek, Kammey Koopa, Boos, Oakley, the mushroom people, koopas, lakitus, hammer bros, the Flower feilds doorway tree, all the flower chicks, magikoopas, Bowser face doors in Bowser's castle, the star spirits, the star children, and clubbas. In SM64: Koopa the quick, penguins, Ukkiki the monkey, all the boses, Bob-omb buddies, and the snowmen. Their are many more in cased I missed anything. No doubt the Subcon's can speak english too. I think I covered all the major species. Their's also the things in M&LSS, I havn't played that game yet. With so many creatures interacting in the game it depends on Mario knowing what their saying. Mario needs to know what a lot of things say.

*M&L Spoilers*
The Beanbeans certainly speak the same language as everybody else, and it seems that the Oho-Jee speak it too (although, not quite as well). Then of course, there's the lightning and thunder gods in the Oho-Jee temples, and that blue girl thing in Joke's End.

Thus once again I claim victory over the mysterys of the world. lol I really need to finish PM2. It would take forever to list the things in that game so lets just say english is pretty well known.

lol Yes, the only assumption we can make is that English is the dominant language (for some reason).
Oh yeah, victory over-ruled. ^_^

Your "victory over ruled" has been denied! I feel sorry for any Chinese, Spanish, or Japanese people reading this. They must feel left out.

Very true. Unfortunately, so many things are unexplained that we tend to go off on tangents. One thing leads to another. ^_^
But yes, let's get back to the original topic, which was the biology of Yoshis. YoshiMastar was right in saying that we didn't seem to be giving them enough credit. They obviously have skills in terms of building basic structures. And the boots probably are just boots, lol.

What about the saddle? A shell or a decoration?

I'm gonna say shell, simply because even the wild and newborn Yoshis have them.

I think Yoshi just got a shell and stuck it on to make riding with Mario easier.
Plus Yoshi's are dinosaurs not turtals.

So? Some dinosaurs had hard caripaces. Besides, no dinosaur that I know of had an extendable tongue either. It seems to me like if a Yoshi is to actually be considered a dinosaur, then he's gonna break the mold in alot more ways than just having a shell.

And the shoes are actually footwear, right?

In all probability, yeah.

Right I forgot the tongue.... Arn't shoes footwear? That was kinda a strange question to ask.

I wanted to know if the "shoes" were hooves or footwear.
