I just recently got back into watching the Super Show, which i don't even remember watchinf when I was little although I remember the Mario 3 and World series.
Looking back at the Super Show I noticed that the Koopa Troopas here and indeed other Koopa species look different here. They are much greener here and more sinister looking.
My theory to this is that they are probably of a different race of Koopa Troopa like there are with humans.
I know most people probably don't consider the cartoons as canon but the way the Troopas look here are quite interesting and is something I thought I'd bring up.
What do you think of the green skinned Koopa Troopas shown in the Super Show?

Yes I know, quite strange isn't it? And why did they make Bowser completely green as well? I think they tried to make the Koopa Troopas look like mini Bowsers with less snout like faces instead of actually going on the sprites for model. Could they be a different species? I doubt it. However they do seem to be lacking the traditional Koopa beak... I don't know.

I would just chalk it up to the cartoons being stupid.
Considering these are the same people that thought putting pizza on a cheesecake is considered fine Italian Cuisine and made the Mini Marios LONG before either Mario vs. Donkey Kong or Super Paper Mario made it canon, I'd say my point has been proven many times over.

They also invented Baby Mario and Baby Bowser... even a broken clock is right twice a aday.

I don't think Sledge Brothers have beaks either. Anyway I do quite like their design and like to think of them as possibly a rare sub-species of Troopa or simply a different race.

My theory is that the Super Show is balls and should be ignored.

My theory is that the Super Show is balls and should be ignored. Nice theory. Honestly, I don't think the cartoons are as bad as everyone says. I haven't seen much of Super Mario Bros 3 or Super Mario World, but Super Show was decent to say the least. It did have some parts that were just groan inducing. (Mario and Luigi running dead-scared of a goomba). But I have to laugh when I see that one episode with Luigi performing the Luigi Missile like... 15 YEARS before Melee.

My theory is that the Super Show is balls and should be ignored. I quite like the Super Show and some of its stories but anyway this thread is about the Koopa Troopas themselves being a seperate species or breed from the regular Koopa Troopas not about the Super Show.

Nope, just counterpart. Just like King Koopa being the counterpart to King Bowser. Basically the cartoons sucked too much to get **** right.

Listen, despite what I said before, I don't hate the cartoons. Far from it. I think at least a few of them are plausible enough to be considered canon. Like Mama Luigi. Just needs a few touch-ups and boom. You've got the first time the Mario Bros met Yoshi. Completely plausible.
..I mean, other than Bowser's King K. Rool phase in Super Show. *shudder*

I never really liked Super Show much at all. If you want a halfway decent Mario cartoon, watch Super Mario Bros. 3. It doesn't have all those weird random characters that have nothing to do with Mario.
Super Mario World was okay, but I just wish they would have played down the whole cavemen thing.

That show is also the reason people think the Koopalings are Bowser's offspring. They don't seem to be anything more than his nephews and niece.

Hey wha..? The Koopalings ARE Bowser's children. What makes you so sure they aren't?

Well, Bowser isn't seen all that consistently with the Koopalings, which would be pretty suspicious if they were all his kids as people tend to believe; Why would Bowser leave out 7 of his own kids in so many of his plots? And there's also the thing that Bowser Jr. is the one who's named after Bowser, and he's the one who looks like Bowser the most, and he's the only one Bowser took with him to his vacation in Sunshine and both his plans to rule the entire universe in Super Mario Galaxy, and he isn't really grouped in with the Koopalings, either, but in fact seems to get it better than they do.
My theory is that the Koopalings are just a bunch of bickering nephews of Bowser who don't really like each other all that much, and will only cooperate if Bowser invites them all to be part of a plan he can't carry out otherwise. Bowser definitley likes Bowser Jr. more than the Koopalings, notice how big of a role he played in New Super Mario Bros for the DS, and how he seems to take a leading stance when he's with the Koopalings in New Super Mario Bros Wii. And plus, Bowser is narcissistic to the extreme, why wouldn't he like Bowser Jr. more than some snotty rocker kid who doesn't even have his looks?

I'm pretty sure they are officially stated to be Bowser's children. Hold on, let me find a source. Straight from the manual: Jeez man, I was about to say. If the Koopalings were never officially stated to be Bowser's children, I was just about ready to quit Mariology forever. How can something so completely and widely thought of as fact not be officially stated anywhere? Seriously, don't just make these kind of statements, you nearly drove me to insanity.
