I've been planning to make a Mario blog for about a month, and I finally opened it yesterday. I'll link to it on here once I have a couple of posts. Artemendo will be helping me maintain it. Looking forward to that ! Also, tell Artemendo I'm sorry for having posted on his dA page. I couldn't resist. Well, he hidden it anyway. I'm still sorry. Didn't want to annoy him. Or don't tell him if he doesn't care (I assume he doesn't, anyway)... |

I'd be perfectly happy with a whole new blog. It'll obviously never be quite the same, but it'd still fill this niche that's basically non-existant right now.

Okay, okay.
I owe an explanation of what happened to all of you, and especially to Unknown Beta User, because she's the one I hurt the most by it.
You see, Unknown Beta User is my girlfriend. We've been together for a year. The really stupid reason why I didn't mention it either here or on the blog is that me being a friendless, forever-alone nerd was kind of my schtick, my gimmick. As I accurately predicted in one of the posts, I would stop writing if I was in a relationship.
It was really hurtful for her when I came back to post on Mariology exactly on a day where we've been having troubles without telling her I even go here anymore, and even more so that I didn't mention our relationship at all. I acted like she didn't exist! That's pretty heartless and I'm very sorry.
So, all in all, I stopped writing because I have a life now, as much as I didn't expect this to ever happen - and I'm very sorry for hurting my wonderful girlfriend and worrying you all about my blog. On the plus side, however, she is starting her own blog soon where I will be assisting her behind the scenes.
It's amazing how she's still with me after all this! Unknown Beta User, you're truly a gem. I don't deserve you.
OK, I hope you can all forgive me. I'll be helping out on my girlfriend's new blog.

I'm happy for both of you (I'd have been a House-like son of a Brick about that one if I wasn't in a relationship since not long too, you got lucky :3). All is well that ends, uh, well-ish, I guess. I definitely forgive you, you made that (stupid) choice long ago, and you're happy now. But, man, I feel like all this could've been avoided SO easily if you didn't lie in the first place. Remember kids, if a Koopa tries to touch your life in a way that feels uncomfortable, that's NO GOOD. Here, we got our Sonic reference in our Mario topic. Oh, and I know the major problem with you being in a relationship isn't that your "friendless smuck" thing would be washed away, but that you'd stop writing. That was NOT a reason to get rid of Waluigious ! Heck, you could've even let Beta make articles for it too ! Well, what's done is done I guess, but still, son, i am disapoint. Good luck to you. |

This drama is so dramatic I can't even follow it. I don't mention all the details of my life and interests here, just like I don't on other boards I frequent. Some things are relevant to being a Mario nerd; some things are not. My relationship status hasn't come up here at all, and I don't see a reason it would. I don't show this board to friends, but that's because they're not known Mario nerds; with one I had a recent Dragon Warrior 4 town naming discussion (neither of us could find Surene). I couldn't give up being a nerd for a boyfriend. Maybe it's a lot easier as a woman; there are lots of male nerds out there.
As another of your former readership, the first thing that could improve the promising Mario Smorgasboard blog would be reprinting the best of Waluigious. One post that stuck in my memory (not that all weren't good!) is the Peachtelligence Quotient. I went to the trouble of finding a copy of the provided chart posted to another bulletin board to save.

So wait, let's get this straight... Artemendo got a girlfriend and didn't mention it because of a stupid gimmick I didn't actually even know existed? Sorry, that's outright pathetic, especially when it starts affecting the site and causing its permanent closure, it's irrelevant what your personal life is like when you run a website.
And because of some disagreements, you closed down Waluigious (which had absolutely nothing to do with any of these problems and could have been perfectly fine being on hiatus or under someone else's management) for good?
Okay, screw this. If you'd not let your personal life get in the way of Waluigious I wouldn't have cared less. Heck, I don't particularly care what people's relationship status is as long as they can keep doing what they were doing previously (in this case, running a Mario fan site). But I honestly can't be bothered to care about the Mario community here any more due to how overblown this whole thing and I'd like to say that if anyone wants to talk to me, I'll be on my own forum and various other sites where people don't let their personal problems get in the way of the community. No Waluigious = no interest in much of the Mario fandom. I'll stick to my Mario book and articles.
As for Mario Smorgasbord, it's okay, but it's nowhere near as interesting as Waluigious. Plus I have little to no interest in blog posts with purely pictures or videos as content.

Holy carp C-M, you don't need to get so worked up about it.
I don't know the gory details about why exactly the site was shut down, but whatever they may be personal or not, it's not our decision to make. Sure, there were other options then closing down the site completely. But whatever Art's reasoning was he was the admin and gets the final say.
Artmentendo may have been one of the best Mario writers out there, but he is by no means the only one. And his departure does not mean the end of Mariology as we know it, regardless of what some people believe.

I mean Mario blogs/fan sites like Waluigious that have been updated much in the last few years, aren't just general information like The Mushroom Kingdom and have interesting content that's not just pictures and is entirely about Mario as a series.
There are pretty much none. It still doesn't forgive Artemendo's selfishness, and let's face it, Mariology is pretty much dead, the last posts before this were what, about a week ago? It's not alive, it doesn't even get 10 posts a day. And I bet Waluigious and its closing down partly led to that, it was the only promotion this place ever got.

Mariology doesn't die because one guy decides to stop writing. I never read Arte's thoughts on the Mario series and now I'll never be able to. I'm still here. Absolutely nothing has changed. Also, we've been going for quite a while with NOWHERE advertising this place, and yet people still find us. I think we're actually pretty lucky that trolls and spambots haven't come here yet. (Not counting that one that lasted about 2 seconds until Toomai banned it) As long as there is Mario, there will be Mariology.
