Both places look very similar, don't you think ? I'm talking about Twilight City from DK94. Considering that Big Ape City is on DK Island, it'd make sense if DK went there to buy Mini Mario toys in MvsDK's intro. Plus even the buildings are similar, and there's a construction site too.
Also, Big Ape City didn't have a true name in the Japanese version of DKL, more like a description ("Megalopolis") as it's not written in katakana. I know it's not sure if the canon version of the DK series is the American or the Japanese one, but it's worth noticing considering it'd mean the city didn't have a name originally (not in the Japanese continuity at least, which seems to be the one the MvsDK series follows as it was made in Japan).

Interesting theory, Kooplmier, but isn't Twilight City from Mario Vs. Donkey Kong, not Donkey Kong '94? Oh well, I don't have an opinio0n on the matter, but I'll do some research and get back to you.

Wouldn't Big Ape City seem more like World 1 from MariovsDK?

World 1 of MvsDK is geographically located in the game's World 6.

So... World 1 and World 6 are the same place?

World 1 is Mario Toy Company (and bears a lot of similarities to DK94's World 1). World 6 is Twilight City, but you see after the DK boss fight (and thus when Mario's still chasing DK) that they are again in the first world. In other words, World 1 is located within World 6.

On-topic: Twilight City=Big Ape City? That works for me.
Even better, there's a chance the Factory world in DKCR is connected to Big Ape City as well as being a crumbled Kremkroc Industries.

You see a part of the original construction site from Donkey Kong, so I guess the Factory is not far of Big Ape City.

That's what I'm saying, except I believe they're all in the same area.

I think Construction Site from DK is NOT Big Ape City, just Big City, which I believe evolved into Mushroom City.

No, because the original DK Arcade took place in Big Ape City. Going off the idea that DK'94 is the canon version, Big-City would definitely be the same place.

How do we know that?

Because it's HEAVILY hinted (and by "hinted" I mean "stated") that Big Ape City is where DK(94)'s events started. Here:
"Bring back fond memories" ? How is that related to anything, if this is the first time we see this city ?
And:
And, obviously, the similar - if not identical - structure of the buildings. AND if that's still not enough, in the Foggy Fumes level of DKCR, you can see a part of the orginal construction site from Donkey Kong.
*takes his breath*
