Here's another from me.
YOSHI'S ISLAND RETURNS (Yeah yeah, I know. I'll come up with a better title later, probably)
Wii
Having played through Wario Land: Shake It and Kirby's Epic Yarn, I've then decided that if Good-Feel should tackle something next, it should be Yoshi's Island. It seems just right for them. Furthermore, Wario, Yoshi, and Kirby seem to be some kind of holy trinity in 2D platforming.
Especially seeing as there hasn't been a really good Yoshi's Island game in a long time. Sure, Yoshi's Story and the others had their time when they did, but they weren't really hits compared to the original Yoshi's Island. So here's to seeing this franchise come back in a more glorious light.
The overall look of the game would be the pastel, hand-drawn style. And with that, the whole game and its characters would be animated exactly like the Japanese commercial of the original game: www.youtube.com/watch?v=GuCDkfjVE5E
So here's Yoshi's Island Returns:
The Story
Here we are on Yoshi's Island. Everyone around seems to be enjoying themselves, but…
Suddenly, the island is getting eaten by a giant dragon named Lord Draggo! He's eaten so much of it that it's caused him to go huge! All that remains of the island now is Yoshi's home!
So now, Yoshi's off to restore the island and put Lord Draggo in his place.
Controls (Wii Remote + Nunchuk)
Control Stick: Move
A: Jump (hold to flutter)
B: Swallow (no need to push down to turn enemies into eggs, but some can't be turned into them)
Z: Hold to aim an egg, and let go to throw*
A, Down (in the air): Ground Pound
*Point the Wii Remote at the screen to aim the cursor to where you want to throw it
Overall Gameplay
While most defining aspects of the previous Yoshi games are retained, I've decided to do away with the babies this time. I've discussed this with a friend once, and he even came up with dino buddies for Yoshi: i82.photobucket.com/albums/j265/BooDestroyer/yoshi__s_friends_sketches_by_mattdog1000000-d30zwt0.jpg
Big Al (the brontosaur) would help Yoshi by allowing him to reach higher places when he stands on his head, rearing it up to said higher place. Also serves as a ride or lift in certain levels.
Trump (the triceratops), Yoshi can ride on him and plow through any enemies. Just like Rambi of DK.
Pterapal (the pterodactyl) can help Yoshi as he grabs hold of her feet while she flies through the skies of certain levels. Watch out for oncoming enemies during these parts, but Yoshi can swallow and throw eggs at enemies
The enemies consist of your run-of-the-mill Shy Guys and other classics/staples from the other games. Another kind of recurring enemy this time alongside all the rest are Draggolings, miniature minions of Lord Draggo who come in many different varieties throughout the levels.
Additionally, there are different colors of eggs with different properties when Yoshi throws them. Just to name a few, red eggs (eggs with red spots) use fiery properties to burn enemies and even melt ice and get especially stubborn vegetation out of the way. Light blue eggs are ice eggs, freezing enemies.
And Poochy will prove especially handy this time. Aside from scoping out secrets for Yoshi (like treasures and other items), Yoshi can ride him in certain levels (depending on the level).
Worlds/Areas in the game
The first level in the game is Yoshi's Pad, a basic tutorial level that helps you out on how to play the game, complete with animated instructional signs like in the other two Good-Feel games. Once this level is over, we see Yoshi thwacking Lord Draggo in the face, which causes the first area of the island to be restored, as Draggo flies off to the final area in the game...
Each area is made up of four regular levels, two hidden levels, and a boss level.
Area 1: Flowery Plains (a grass land teeming with flora and fauna that pose as obstacles in each level)
Area 2: Shy Guy Park (an amusement park/fairground chock full of Shy Guys)
Area 3: Barracuda Bay (a tropical place with many underwater levels and a few in the jungle; beware of the piranha fish and other dangerous aquatic enemies)
Area 4: Scorch Gorge (a cliff/plateau area with many lava levels)
Area 5: Creamy Mountain (a tall snowy mountain with a few caves)
Area 6: Lord Draggo's Lair (his fearsome lair far away from Yoshi's Island; dangerous levels and the final battle with Lord Draggo himself await)
Defeating the boss of each area in the game will restore the next area of the island.
Bosses
Area 1: Bramble Piranha (a large Piranha Plant that attacks Yoshi with its bramble vines; fire eggs will prove effective here)
Area 2: Shy Giga (a triple-sized Shy Guy)
Area 3: Crusher (a mean shark whose battle is made up of chasing Yoshi underwater while he has to find ways to lure Crusher into traps ahead to damage him)
Area 4: Magmorty (a large glob-like lava monster with lava arms that have rocky hands which Yoshi must ground pound on)
Area 5: Raphael the Raven (he's back!)
Area 6: Lord Draggo (oh, of course…)
This is about it at present. I'll even drum up a picture of Lord Draggo and the other enemies later.
