That wasn't serious. It's a possibility, but I actually don't believe the Dark Star to be Ganondorf, but rather a villain we'll learn more of in the next M&L game. Or some randomly thrown element in the plot.
There, nobody will die (too much).
I wonder, is the Dark Star related to the Star Sprites ? They look similar.

The Star Sprites did seem too be the first to know about the Dark Star's evil since they sealed it away almost immediately after it started attacking. It could be an evil star sprite stuck in a spherical prison.
