Hey, on-topic (somewhat), I wonder... who was sealed inside the Dark Star ? As you can see from Peach's backstory, the Dark Star isn't in its true form, and contains a "great evil" (character). I guess that this great evil was sealed inside the Dark Star and hidden deep within the earth, only to be found later by Toads. We hear a bit of Ganondorf's theme in the game (compare Ganondorf's Theme to this and, while that music doesn't contain parts of Ganondorf's theme, it was heavily influenced by it), so do you think it may be... Ganondorf at a point of the Zelda timeline ? After all we know there's a link between Mushroom Earth and Hyrule (as Link appears in SMRPG and you can interact with him ; you meet him in Rose Town so there must be a wormhole linking Forest Maze to the Lost Woods).

Interesting...
You might just be grabbing straws though, as Samus is also in it. (I think, can't be bothered to check)
Still, I just assumed The Dark Star was an embodiement of Evil, and it was sealed away.

Ganondorf is the greatest evil in Nintendo games but even still I don't think he would be connected to the Mario series like that.

It justely happens the Dark Star is pure evil too.
And Samus is in SMRPG, but it doesn't contradict anything, so for now it stays canon (as you can interact with her). While we know that, timeline-wise, SMRPG happens during Super Metroid, we don't know which incarnation of Link appears in the game.

1. Is Hyrule on ME?
2. Was it on it at least in the past?
3. Could there have been a wormhole Link accidentially went through?

Actually just because Samus's Super Metroid form was in the game doesn't mean that SMRPG takes place during the same time as Super Metroid. Samus could have gone through this whole dimensional rift thing that not only took her into another dimension but back in time as well

The Mario world is the same as the Kirby world, which is the same as our world, which is the same as the Metroid world. And, Hyrule isn't part of the Mushroom Earth. The ME's stability is due to the Star Rod, while Hyrule's stability is due to the Triforce. Additionally, the Golden Godesses are the deity that watch over Hyrule, while the Star Spirits are the semi-deities that watch over the ME. And, while the ME is named "Earth", it happens Hyrule is both the name of the land and the name of the planet. If the Lost Woods can lead to other parts of the land, or even to other dimensions, it could very well be linked to Forest Maze, no matter if the Mario world is the same as the Zelda world or not.

This is interesting, though. Considering I'm a Mariologist and Zelda Timeline Theorist. (Splitist, that is.)

Meh the Zelda timeline isn't fun to debate anymore. Now everyone agrees about the split-timeline theory and there are no more noobs that say that the games are all just retellings of the same story.

Meh the Zelda timeline isn't fun to debate anymore. Now everyone agrees about the split-timeline theory and there are no more noobs that say that the games are all just retellings of the same story. Actuallty here's my version of the timeline: - Skyward Sword (duh) - Ocarina of Time (DUH) - Majora's Mask (HURR DURR) - Twilight Princess (DURRHURRHURRR) ; Ganondorf dies in the Twilight World / Sacred Realm (while both places may not be the same, they may be connected due to their similarities) - The Minish Cap- A Link to the Past ; Ganondorf's twisted spirit (appearing as Ganon) is still roaming in the Sacred Realm, which became the Dark World due to the pure evilness of Ganondorf's spirit, and tries to take over the world using Aganhim, but when he finally had enough power to materialize, he was beaten by Link and went back to a simple ghost - Link's Awakening- Four Swords- Four Swords Adventure ; the game's Ganondorf is an anecstor of OoT's Ganondorf, but OoT Ganon's spirit could escape the Sacred Realm, and tries to possess FSA Ganondorf. However, while he actually can't possess him due to the fact his spirit became too weak, he could make him realize that his destiny is to take over Hyrule ; at the end of the game FSA Ganondorf (and OoT Ganondorf, partially possessing him) are sealed inside the Four Swords - The Legend of Zelda ; the seal breaks and both Ganons are free again, however, with both spirits being in the same body, and OoT Ganon slowly gaining power back, they became the angry blue pig everyone knows about. Ganon is however defeated by Link - Link's Adventure- Oracle of [item] ; at the linked ending, Ganon is partially resurrected, and defeated once and for all (?). - Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story ; because he didn't completely come back to life, Ganon's rules of mortality have changed, and he can't go back to the Underwhere. While roaming around Hyrule, he went through the Lost Woods and eventually found himself in Forest Maze, on the Mushroom Earth. However the complete lack of evil, sorrow, or any negative emotion in the Mushroom Kingdom made him extremely weak, to the point where his spirit would vanish. Thus, he did all he could to fly away from the planet, but he couldn't go farther than Star Haven. Feeling the Star Rod's infinite power, he touched it and became the Dark Star. Now being the very embodiement of evil yet again, and being used to the stability of the planet, he could unleash his power and probably free his body self if he used the Star Rod, however the Star Spirits banished him and sealed him underground, until Toads found him later. He tried to destroy the kingdom, but the Star Sprites sacrificed themselves to seal him under Toad Town. Until Fawful freed him 1000 years later... He was finally defeated forever by Mario, Luigi and Bowser.

You completely forgot the adult timeline there, but my timeline is something like that. Except the Oracle games are put last because in that game the Triforce is in the hands of the royal family. Plus Link's Awakening is a direct sequel to Link to the Past. But I don't know about your logic with the two ganons. Miyamoto and Anouma have always said that Ganon is the only character that is always the same person in every game. Instead of a descendant though, for Link to the Past my theory is that Ganon simply was resurrected as a child and when he grew up he remembered that he wanted to take over the world. And about the whole BiS thing. Yeah wouldn't Link have followed Ganon's spirit through the Lost Woods because of their connections with the Triforce. I mean usually it doesn't matter where Ganon is, Link goes to that place and beats him up.

The Adult timeline is more like a spin-off series, as it only counts 3 games not counting OoT.
And I didn't know Link's Awakening is a direct sequel to A Link to the Past, thanks. And the Ganondorf in Four Swords Adventure is clearly a descendant (and re-incarnation) of the OoT one, but instead of him somehow remembering his past self, it'd be more logic that the OoT Ganondorf influenced him, and them becoming the same explains why The Legend of Zelda NES' Ganon is like A Link to the Past's Ganon, and means both Ganondorfs were destroyed at the same time. Also he died in The Legend of Zelda NES, which means he couldn't hold the Triforce of Power anymore (probably the choice of the Golden Goddesses, who knew he'd eventually end in the Mushroom Kingdom and Hyrule would be messed up if a part of the Triforce was in another galaxy). And Link did go to the Mushroom Earth, in SMRPG. I guess he couldn't find Ganondorf (as he's hidden deep within the earth) and just went back to Hyrule.
Also, I'm editing the timeline.

I may not know Zelda, but isn't Skyward Sword a direct sequel to Twilight Princess?
I thought they said something about that in e3...

This peace is what true warriors strive for *gets shot* also I forget where but wasn't there something in FSA that linked it directly to Link to the Past.

I think you're taking the possibility of the Dark Star being Ganon a bit far, indeed, while I like the Legend of Zelda series, and imagine it's not implausible it's got some connections to the Mario series, I really, really doubt this idea was the intention of Nintendo.

Agreed. It's funny how we debate Zelda in a Mario forum.
