To be honest I don't really know, I'm assumeing that it's the FF universe but I'm not an expert on final fantacy.

I don't think He said he is from Varda, although I just know the intro to the fight, Vard would have to be in one of the first four final fantasy's. The most logical game choice if where part of the FF universe would be from Final fantasy IV, which he is not
