We need to specify what types of games are canon and what types are not.
I think that any remake or port of an existing game should not be considered canon, unless it is adding on to the story or plot of the first. If it changes or removes parts of the old story then I would go with the first one. There is a difference between removing a part of the story and just not showing part of the story by the way.

Hmmm, well I think the super mario advance games should replace the origional games. Not to sure about SM64DS though, and I realy would not like to consider DK94' as cannon. But we do have a thread about remade games in the culture section(even though no one posts there anymore). I would like to talk about how we can make the sports games cannon because most people on this forum don't think they are cannon.

All the SMA games are exact replicas of the All-Star versions (minus a few coloring details) SM64DS and DK94 would be the only exceptions I could think of off the top of my head. -All the cartoons are just too far out there to be anything close to cannon. If I were forced to choose the most likely out of the 3 I'd say SMB3. -There's probably a few edutainment titiles that aren't cannon either. -Don't even get me started on the movie.  -There's nothing I can find obviously wrong with the Super Mario adventures comic series. So I would say that would be cannon. -The other comics can get pretty weird at times, I don't know. -I've only read two of the choose-your-own-adventure books so far, but they seem pretty cannon from what I've heard so far. |

How do we get the paper mario games to fit in? I'm pretty sure that mario did not actuly become paper.

If you absolutely must, you can say that the Paper Mario games were just visually altered for gaming.

So paper mario actuly happend in 3D, in paper mario 2 the paper parts were cause by the curses, not sure about super paper mario but then again it hasen't come out yet.

He's always in 3D unless he uses the curses.
Some stuff should be added and subtracted from M64 and M64DS. Put the remains in a blender and stir for 5 minutes.

Well, The story for Super Paper Mario is that a dimensional rift occurs or something... this explains the different dimensions. So I'd say Super Paper Mario is canon.

I heard they got turned into a story book. O wait that was Yoshi Strory. But at the end of the game it didn't look like the curse was ever broken. :/

No, the story is peach gets kidnapped(again) Mario & Luigi go find Bowser, but the real villen Count Blaek uses his powers of black holes to suck everyone in bowsers castle into flipside, than he forses peach and bowser to marry, for it has been fortold that if they do, a giant black hole will suck up the entire universe.
