Mario terribly injured many boos in Super Mario 64 AND Big Boo (who was King Boo before Bowser made him a king) After the events of Paper Mario, King Boo found Bowser on the verge of death and helped him recover if he would make him the Boo king and allow him to rescue some of his friends (the portrait ghosts) and get revenge on Mario and Luigi(Either King Boo in SM64DS was just Big Boo wearing a crown and when Luigi helped Mario defeat his forces, he knew to take revenge on both brothers). After losing terribly to Luigi, King Boo took over a hotel in Sirena Beach and spent a couple days in the casino just having him and his Boos get really high (that explains the retarded look). And we all know how that story ended.
