No, what I mean is world 1 is all in and around ME's ATMOSPHERE.
Actually, I just realized something. The Spin-Dig Galaxy is actually inside of a larger body. Perhaps the Moon?

Well I guess that makes sense. Plus that theory is pretty similar to mine. (Mine was that World 1 is the galaxy that ME is located in) But then what happened to the planets from Galaxy 1 that you see at the end of Galaxy 1 near ME?

They just weren't put onto the map in Galaxy 2. They're still there, just not in this game.

I noticed that in my first play-through, in my opinion, it bears a striking resemblance to the second closest planet to ME's sun(ME being the closest) as seen in Donkey Kong:Jungle Beat(minus the giant holes, of course). As for the Galaxies featured in the games, I think most of them where taken from the Mushroom World by Bowser. (Like Sky Station, Yoshi Star, Fluffy Bluff, and Starshine Beach). I don't know about anyone else but whenever I played through the game I always asked myself why each galaxy is the way it is? And thats how I reached my conclusion! Hey, I just got an idea for a thread! EDIT: Heres a screenshot from the game, but I've seen better Quality elsewhere: www.mariowiki.com/images/b/b8/Asteroid_Belt.PNGAlso, here are image's of Mario's Solar System based on PM2:TTYD, and DK:JB: img38.imageshack.us/img38/3240/ssolar.pngimg530.imageshack.us/img530/1855/solarsystem.png

You know, I always wondered how Yoshi made it into Outer Space before Mario. If a section of Yoshi's Island was brought into space it would make sense for Yoshi to be there. It also seems that Yoshi can teleport as if you have Yoshi fall off of a cliff or stay alone for a while he will go into his egg and teleport to a checkpoint.

...Huh. That's a good point you bring up, kingkoopa. I'm not sure that he has teleportation abilities though, the fact that he pops back to the checkpoint when you fall off is probably just there gamewise. If he did, he'd probably use it more often while Mario was on board.
What I think is, Yoshi probably found out about Bowser's meddling before Mario did and stowed away on one of his airships to try and take him down. But, since Yoshi's, well, Yoshi, he's not really good at adventuring without someone riding him, so he got captured by Bowser's troops and his egg was guarded by Kamek.

Really I think it was just a generic Magikoopa that was guarding Yoshi's egg because other Magikoopas that you enounter later in the game used spells that were more powerful than a single Goombob appearing.

*shrugs* I don't know of any Magikoopa that can create an energy shield, except maybe Kamek. He can do anything. Anything.

What if Kamek made it and Appointed that Magikoopa to gaurd it!? That's a possibility.

...The magikoopa *DID* explode when he was defeated...

Plus if he was Kamek I think it would have been some cinimatic boss fight instead of "Try to tag me with your spin attack"

I know this forum is about taking Mario seriously, but now it's too serious. "Galaxy" only refers to a level, much like "courses" in SM64, "zones" in Sonic, and so on. Why "galaxy" ? Because it fits the game's theme.
And the "planets" aren't really planets. More like asteroids and random flying crap due to the Big Bang that happened at the end of SMG1. Also, look at the World 1 from the "world selection" screen. There are 6 moons (SMG1's Big Bang mixed all the cosmic objects that were less heavy than a planet). There's a big brown moon with holes in it. It is most likely than Spin-Dig is located inside.
Also, look at the brown Luma's map in SMG1. It is called "map of the great galaxy", so it is most likely than all the game's "galaxies" are inside Mario's galaxy (let's call it the Grand Finale) and thus Mario doesn't quit his home galaxy.
People, don't forget Yoshi's Island is 2 different places in Japan - Yoster Island (where our Yoshi lives... well, lived) and Yoshi Island (where Baby Mario was saved). Because of Yoshi Star Galaxy's original name (Yostar Galaxy) it is most likely than SMG1's Big Bang took away some parts of Yoster Island and those parts were divided into two groups. One went far in the sky (Sky Station) and the other went less high (Yoshi Star). Yoshi saw Bowser's airships near his home in Sky Station, and adventured with the help of Lumas to retrieve Power Stars, but he got trapped in Yoshi Star.
Final point: a "galaxy" in Mario Galaxy is what a "zone" is to Sonic The Hedgehog 3.

The zones in Sonic games can still be considered different areas that could be a part of a main continent so no I don't think we are taking this too far.

Just like how galaxies in Mario games can still be considered different asteroid clusters that would be part of... err... nothing, they just fly around.

.But "Super Mario Solar System" is less catchy. That.

So Mario's planet would be orbited by solar systems... ?
The most likely theory is that it'd be Super Mario Asteroid Cluster.

I still think most of 'em were just ripped from the Mushroom Earth. Also, they were probably returned to ME after Mario retrieved the Power Stars. What evidence do I have? Well, Yoshi's House from SMW is on the first planet in the Sky Station Galaxy, but Yoshi is first encountered in the Yoshi Star Galaxy. Why? Maybe Yoshi was taking a stroll around Yoshi's Isle when Bowser started pulling parts of the planet up when he met up with a group of Toads and got himself captured by a Magikoopa! Also, most of the Races you encounter(Minus Bees, Whetlies, and Gearmos) are found on ME(Penguins, Piantas, and Toads)! Whetlies could be the inhabitants of the land portion of Sky Land from SMB3(Which I nickname Fluffy Bluff Island). And one of the Bees from SMG1 said he was a subject of the Honeyhive Kingdom, which could be on ME. And Gearmos could be E. Gadds inventions for all we know!

Gearmos don't belong to Gadd, as they lack the symbol.

I don't think Gadd made them, just pointing out that they could have originated from ME.

Gearmos seem to be more of a species than a machine even if they are robots. They do however have no emotions since they will kill Mario for simply not collecting enough purple coins.
