I still have no reason to believe that ANY Mario games are "non-canon" save for the ones not made by Nintendo.
First thing to remember is that Mario doesn't even HAVE an official canon. The whole notion of there being a canon is entirely fabricated by us, and thus there aren't even any set guidelines for what that canon should entail. This is why we have people decided that some games didn't happen soley because they didn't like them.
To resolve this, I operate on the pre-determined notion that ALL Mario games are canon (save for maybe the edutainment titles and Hotel Mario, but those can be included without any problems really) and attempt to explain how they can all fit together.

That will be an incredibly difficult endeavor, from the geography alone, but if you can do it you're a genius.

Well, inconsistencies in geography can either be explained by Koopalmier's idea of "just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not there" where applicable, or my other theory of the Mushroom World having chaotic tectonics.
Also remember that due to translation inconsistencies and vague naming schemes, several areas that may assumed to be different might actually be the same place.

Mario vs. DK is DEFINITELY not canon in my book. Why? How?

I have no right to speak for him, but I'll post my own thoughts. MariovsDK would be canon if Donkey Kong Country never existed. Then the games would actually make SENSE. But according to Rare, DK was really DK Jr. and only helped in kidnapping Pauline.

...That still doesn't explain anything.

I guess we should wait for him to answer then.

But according to Rare, DK was really DK Jr. and only helped in kidnapping Pauline. I think it has something to do with the fact that Pauline has to have aged as fast as Mario & Donkey Kong Sr. (aka. Cranky Kong). Since she's still just as young and, dare I say, sexy as she was back in the arcade version, then that must mean either two things: 1. The Mario vs. Donkey Kong games aren't canon. 2. Pauline is the poster child for anti-aging products. (By the looks of her, possibly Gadd Science brand.)

I think the only big problem is that Mario and Pauline are clearly lovers in the fourth game. Even if it's an "alternate universe" thing, if the DK in that series is the current one, how come Mario and Pauline are still dating ? If it's because the series actually happens in the "retro" time period, where Cranky Kong is still looking like DK, then there's a big problem there because the Mario Toy Company was founded due to Mario's popularity, meaning his main adventures about saving Peach had to happen.
I think it's kind of sad. From a nice Donkey Kong sequel, to a completely puzzle game, to a timeline-destroying game with more puzzle... Nintendo missed an opporunity, really. They even said that it was a puzzle game with Mario pasted on it to make it sell.

I think the Mario Gang (And the would be party-crashers Wario and Waluigi) got sick of parties after McBallyhoo reared his ugly head.

PLACE YOUR BETS ON A NEW MARIO PARTY FOR PROJECT CAFE OR 3DS! Seriously, why bother making a game like Wii Party when you have AN ENTIRE FRANCHISE OF PARTY GAMES THAT HAVE ALREADY PROVEN POPULAR WITH FANS.

Because the Wii's target audience would probably be more inclined to buy a game like that if it was centered around Miis?
Plus, most gamers in general are kind of sick of Mario Party anyway.

Well, we're getting Mario Party 9 for Wii (which features Whittles in all of their glory!), and I'm rooting for Mario Party 3D, especially if their was some connectivity between them.

I'm hoping they finally actually return to the MP 1-4 style, with good, non-luck based minigames and GOOD items!

They've always had non luck based minigames, their numbers have just been... diminished.
