Whats your opinion on the whole birdo gender thing? I'm not just talking about the birdo, but all of them in general. Are they all girls? Do both the boy and girls where bows on their heads? Why has Nintnedo never shown us a male birdo?

As for the part where we haven't seen a bow-less Birdo, it may be so that younger kids don't confuse them with Yoshis.
But it is true that all Birdos that we've seen appear to be female. They even wear eyeshadow.

I also think that birdos are supposed to be the female YOSHI! I disagree 100%. They are quite obviously different species with similar looks.

I've always imagined that both Yoshis and Birdos were hermaphroditic. Hence all the constant egg-laying.

I think they reproduce a-sexually. They're two differnt species. And yes there are bowless Birdos ( NES SMB2 ).

I seem to remember one of the early manuals saying that the Birdo in SMB2 was actually a boy that liked to pretend he was a girl. And wasn't the Birdo in M&LSS confused as to its gender or something? Maybe the males are just naturally transgendered, and so the species appears to be all-female.

The SMB2 manual states the Birdo was a boy who wanted to be a girl. But in Birdos later appearances (starting in Mario tennis i guess...) they seemed to have changed it to be she was always a girl. I guess Nintendo thought the whole homosexual thing wouldn't go over very well in todays society. On a side note: in Japan, Birdo has always been a girl.

Here's an idea. Maybe in Birdo culture bows are a sign of respect or something like that.

I thought the Birdo in Mario Tennis was THE Birdo we see in the sports games (a female), while the ones we saw in SMB2 were just several birdos (or just one different one) that were males. But then again, in Super Mario Advance, all of the Birdos sound like females.

I imagined it as one of the bidros from SMB2 (the pink one) was the one who made all the appearances in sports games. It seems everyone is forgetting about birdos appearance in SMRPG as a mini boss in Nimbus land. That's probably the same pink one too. ------------ Didn't birdo have a bow in the official SMB2 artwork?
