A thought had just occured to me the other day. If the Iron Clefts (from PM:TTYD) were indeed made of iron, then why didn't electrical attacks work on them?

Their type of metal doesn't conduct electricity

Iron is, indeed, conductive.

....the electricity flows into the ground instead of all over oh I failed at science gahh!!!
And you should put this thread in the creatures section.

Maybe it did affect them but so minimally (because of their strength) that it seemed to not do so.

And you should put this thread in the creatures section. Well in my opinion, the Iron Clefts are more intelligent than the average Joe Cleft, and there's not enough of them to be classified as a creature (again, in my opinion). Affect them minimally? That's a good idea. I was thinking more along the lines of an inconductive alloy, since iron wasn't blue last time I checked.

No, he's right. This should be in the creatures section. Moving.

I had an idea about this, perhaps the shell is armor only, and under it is a layer of a material that's like rubber which absorbs the electricity and causes no damage to the cleft, though it may feel some warmth or something, but nothing enough to cause damage. That's just my opinion though, I think you guys are better at coming up with solutions than I am though.
EDIT: I came up with a modifcation to it. As (if) the Cleft grows, it will need to get a bigger shell right? So perhaps the rubber-like material is the infantile shell. And when the armour-like shell has to be cracked off, the rubber-like layer becomes visible and hardens after about a day. And underneath the new shell, another rubber layer will start to form. It would be getting ready for when it needs to become a shell in the future, and it's also there to protect the cleff until the time comes. ... Again, I still say you guys are better.

That's a good idea, barring the fact that they themselves said they were "solid iron".

Lying for the intimidation factor, perhaps? Or maybe just trying to show off?
Welcome to the boards, dragon. ^_^

Much like fictional giant insects iron clefts would be too heavy to move themselves if they had too thick a metal covering.

clefts are rock enemies, these guys probably have iron armor under their rocky extierer

That would make sense, because it gives reason for them to be blue-coloured. Iron isn't blue, but rock can be.

Um...no offense or anything, but I've never seen a blue rock.

There's blue rocks in river beds and iron clefs would crack if they where crystal.
