The less islands we have to deal with, the better. That's why it's nice to be able to say SMW and SMW2 feature the same Yoshi's Island.

we don't really have to deal about YI much unless were talking about SMW2.
also wanting not to deal with more islands is more of an opinon, and last time I checked opinions arn't true fact.

You have to admit that having less islands is easier on the brain. Here's our perspective: we think that it is possible that the two islands are the same, so for the sake of simplicity, that's the way we'd like to think of it. You, on the other hand, do not think that the islands can be the same, and therein lies our difficulty.
I guess that's pretty obvious, though.

The Yoshi Islands from SMW and SMW2 I'm preaty sure are the same island only the SMW one has drasticly changed over time. Remember that SMW2 takes place way in the past. It is possible for the landscape to change during the time from when Mario was born and when he went back to the island for a vacation. Peices of the island could have broken off. This might have something top do with Delfino Island.

Since Yoshi's live on Delfino I assume Yoshi's Island is withen a hundred miles of each other.
But an island drift in a space of about 40 years? Ehhh, something unnatrual would have to take place. This brings up an intresting point though because in the SMW advanced intro it shows small rocks off the coast of Yoshi's Island.
Hmmmm....

I wouldn't be surprised if the Koopa Klan attacked the island at some point, getting it seperated.

Would the Koopa Troop really have the power to blow off chunks of an island at the time?

Well, they had magic.

Are we suggesting that the island was blown apart and that one half was moved by the Koopas?

The Koopa Klan saw that, through teamwork, the Yoshis beat them up. So by splitting them in half (or something), they chanced that it would hurt their resolve and prevent it happeneing again.

Way too illogical to move an island when the enemies your moving can use boats.

Actually, I've never seen a boat on any of Yoshi's islands. I'm pretty sure they understand the technology of boating, but they seem happy to stay where they are, even after the seperation.

The island-splitting would definitely have to be due to magic. Maybe a bunch of Magikoopas gathered together after SMW2 and combined their power to split the island and separate it by a vast expanse of water.

They could have just killed the Yoshi's and saved a lot of time.

Seriously? I don't think Kamek ever wanted to actually kill the Yoshis in YI, just to get them off that baby.
And anyway, it doesn't seem like killing is part of the Koopa Klan. They've transformed, exploded, and shot screen-spanning projectiles, but I don't ever think that they intend to kill. Just incapacitate.

Can we change the subject? All we've been talking about is if Yoshi's Island has been broken off in the past to make it look like how it does now.
Lets just say erosion and water level eh?

Well, we have about forty or so years to work with. Is that long enough for the changes needed?

How about this? The part of the island that split was on a different continental plate. Because of all the volcanoes on Mushroom Earth, continental drift was exagerated, so it drifted far away.

I'm thinking mabye having the island turned into a story book (twice) might have somthing to do with it?

Both great ideas. I think a combination of those things and maybe some warfare between the Koopas and the Mushroom Kingdom could've been just the thing to split an island.
