Hello, in this thread we'll discuss all the order of the games because, while most people think that all the games happened in the order that they were released, we have things like King Boo knowing Mario, the Koopalings... etc.
This is what I think.

My old one was too crazy, I'll admit... Instead I'll use these for all my theoryes, sports/non-story games will be ignored... If we really need them, they could have happened sparcely after the original SMB.

I seem to remember this being talked about elsewhere. I think what was reasoned was that the games happened as close to release order as possible (with SMW2:YI being the primary exception). I can't really remember why it was decided like that, but there must have been multiple reasons.

Well, mainly to avoid confusion. Unless there is a reason why a certain game must come before another, fans generally try to place games in the order they were released.

I guess I should state again that Nintendo has stated the games don't occur in any peticular order. But everyone tries to figure it out anyway (incuding me XP) I try to use the tiny hints in the games the figure out the order. For instance: the pianta in the airvents of the Isle defino hotel makes a comment about somone sucking up all the boos with a vacume and then says somthing like "Why are you looking at me like that?" the proves LM came before SMS.

No, Mario lives in a castle in SML2, yet in the RPGs games he lives in a house. Explanation? SML2 happens after the RPGs.
EDIT: Modified the order to fix that inconsistence.

The castle was likely a gift from the Royal Family to Mario for all of his good deeds. He doesn't stay there because it is probably much farther away from Peach than his little cottage is.

Hey should we put SM64 really early on the list? Since Mario has tons of Star power he would be able to do all those crazy moves he does in later games.

I think it would make more sence if we set a time period of each game. How long did each one take? How long was it between each game? YOu know, that sort of game, no so much a date though.

That can't be done, because we, as the one who control Mario's actions, can make the game take the time we want.
