I think buzzy beatles are called beatles because of there shell. And if they were insects they wouldn't have a skeloton(bony beatles). And para-beatles proboly tuck in there legs in SMB3. boney beetles don't even resemble the original beetle. They only have two feet unless I'm thinking of something else

And they have spikes, so they might be the undead version of spinys. But theres still the issue of the number of legs.

Perhaps that leg is the one on the other side...

I don't think any of those are a far side leg, or else you wouldn't be able to see part of it when it moved up.

Buzzy beatles are not insects, they have 4 legs instead of 6, plus they don't have an exosceloton.

I agree, it's probably just the syle of spriting used. Plus, buzzy beattle dose have an exoskeleton.... That hard shell like covering is the exoskeleton....

The shell dousn't count as an exoskeleton. Also, in new super mario bros. buzzy beatles don't look anything like insects.

If it counts as part of an earth beattles exoskeleton, why can it not count as the exoskeleton of a buzzy beattle?

Because the rest of its body isn't hard like regular insects.

Don't some insects have soft spots though?

I don't know, all I know is that in paper mario, buzzy beatles look almost exactly like spinys. And spinys aren't insects, are they?

They don't look exactly the same in paper mario, at least not paper mario 2. Dosn't goombella or somebody say that they are bugs?
