This is gonna be an interesting thread, I can tell. The question here is basically, how do Goombas hold things? They don't have hands, or any other appendage other than feet that we can see. And yet there are constantly referances to them holding items. Prehencile tongue, maybe? Well, cut of my hands and call me stumpy, 'cause I'm stumped. ^_^

Psychic powers? Or maybe they just clench items between their abdomen (the little yellow section) and head. Or maybe their epidermis is extremely viscous and items just stick to their bodies.

Or they hold items in their mouths.
Der!
And the doors in Goomba Village ( Paper Mario ) work with a lever on the floor that when you press it opens the door. ( much like trash cans )

That's what I was thinking, and seems to be the only plausible explanation. It just seems impossible that they would have built such things as houses and door pedals with just their mouths. I suppose that's the way we have to go, though.

No Koop man don't give up! The mushroom people probably built the houses for them. Remember in Paper Mario the Goomba family in Goomba village have a Toad as their neighbor. That might explain somthing.
Wait...
New thread coming....

You're right, they did have a Toad in their village, didn't they? Hmmm, he'd have to be pretty darn nice to build all that stuff for them. But there's still the subject of how they hold things. Besides, there's a part in Paper Mario when the Goomba Grandfather (I forget his name) was repairing their back porch with a hammer, so they had to have at least done some work. Or at least, been capable of it.

His name is Goompa. Their is always the possiblity of the tools having a contraption that is operated with the mouth.

Yeah, mouth seems like the best way to go. They must have really strong jaws and teeth.

But the thing is that when we see Goombas "holding" things, they aren't anywhere near their mouths. However, I have a theory (surprise, surprise).
Perhaps Goombas inherintly have some very very small magical ability, only very rarely does a Goomba feel the desire to follow that particular path in life (in other words, training to use the magic to it's full extent). For example, in Dungeons & Dragons the Gnome race naturally have a few magical abilities from birth, but if they don't choose to become a mage and study the ways of magic then they can't do anything else.
In short, perhaps Goombas have the natural ability to lift very small/light objects through the use of magic. That's all I have to say, shoot it down if you want. ^_^

Cheap thoughts like that are always possible.
It's better than Kamek gave Goomba's magical abilities though.

*shug* I just thought I'd throw it out there.
Speaking of D&D, I'm in the process of making a Super Mario D&D conversion using the d20 System. If anybody's interested, I'll be sure to post stuff up here when it's ready.

I think the magic ability seems the cleanest of our theories. Are there any examples of a Goomba fully realizing his magical abilities? And I've only played D&D once, so I don't know much about it.

Technically, I've only played it a couple of times too. But I know alot about it.

Were there any magic-using Goombas in Horror Land in Mario Party 2? I can't remember. If there is, then there would be one example.

I don't know. I've never played any of the Mario Party games.

I've only played the first and third. Those games are the bane of my Mario fandom.

Unless you and at least 5 other people are in a great mood the games just get old fast.
Plus it ties like nothing in with the other games. It just makes things more confusing.

More complicated, and possibly more confusing, but also more interesting.
