I wonder what Peach and Toad would look like if they were bald ? <_>
More seriously, haha, they look cute and ridiculous for some reasons.

Well, we've seen Toad almost bald in the cartoons wherever he takes off his cap. Peach, on the other hand, I don't even want to think about that.

Do you imagine, at the start of SM64, when Peach's reading her letter, instead of her picture, you see bald Britney Spears' ?
Mario: *reads the letter* *sees the picture* ... I should stop eating cake anyway. It makes me fat.

I would have never played Mario games if that happened.

I have another theory. Star Haven and the castle's Power Stars added a powerful magic to the planet's atmosphere, which holds all these floating objects and the "galaxies" in SMG2. As for solid clouds, they could actually be floating islands (that floats due to the magic atmosphere) that have clouds covering it.

Floating Islands sounds accurate but in wasn't Sky Land (Sky Part) just made up of vapor-emmitting blocks

World 5-7 was built out of blocks with an "underground" area that looked like World 1 complete with bushes and solid ground. World 5-5 was made of Donut Lifts. The upper fortress is built over a lake of lava. All the others had nothing but solid clouds/vapor-covered blocks, pipes, floating striped blocks, some floating breakable blocks in 5-6, and exotic platforms.

Page 2 of Leaping Lizards ( www.mariowiki.com/Leaping_Lizards) explains... It's also interesting to note that the Super Mario Galaxy games reveal that this wonky physics is common throughout the [Mushroom] Universe, not just Mushroom Earth (or whatever it's called).

I don't know if this was you who I said this to before, but I really don't count anything America has made as official. I mean going by what American authors write, you might as well count the Tracey West books as part of the Mario canon too!

I actually do own her book (Super Mario RPG references make it a must own for me), but back on topic...
I find it interesting how apparently normal things can also float. Look at Donkey Kong's banana horde. In the cave, they're perfectly normal, non-anti-gravitational bananas, but once they're stolen they can be spotted floating in mid-air. It makes me think that there may be some sort of magical power/force in the extended Mario universe, and that any object can get caught up in it and defy gravity.
