They're obviously not natural, and somebody ( probably mushroom people ) put them there for easy transportation.

It could be the same somebody who places all those items that heroes need.

But the items are all thing that can be found in nature, flowers, mushrooms, leaves, feathers, ect.

I think the pipes are Toad-made. They seem too planned and convenient to be natural occurrences. I'd bet it's a form of transportation the Toads have been using for years.

But thrers just so many of them. And in such deserted areas. Also alot of them dont work. Mabey that pipe itself grows naturally, but it's up to someone to put the telepoter in themself.

The pipes in the deserted areas make transportation easier instead of having to get there by walking.

Maybe there are a few natural pipes, and the Toads got the design from these. But I don't think that can explain all of them and where they are placed.

Maybe they're like Stargates - placed by an ancient, highly advanced race that is no longer in existance.

But there're so many of them. In one level of Super Princess Peach there are numerous pipes. I just wonder why the ancients had a need for so many pipes going to so many places that probably weren't even developed back then. But I guess it's possible.

That's what always made me wonder if they were man made at all. To have pipes in a place like Dinosaur land, that seems almost totally unihabited by any advanced species, you have to wonder why those pipe seem to be popping up like, well...weeds.

Maybe pipes are biomechanical creatures, all linked into a vast network. Sorta like the Borg without the assimilation. Instead, their goal is to connect the world.

I think you guys are overexagerating this. What on earth are warp pipes like?
ROADS
Both cover the planet, both have been around for thousands of years ( though the pipes today are made with better material ), and both are in remote areas ( I've been to Montana, trust me on that point ).
Pipes take up less resources than roads since most of the pipes arn't completly connected, and a magic portal has nothing to do with technology.
Having roads all over earth is much more of a phenomenon.

It seems as if there's evidence for every explanation we can come up with.

That's because we generally don't put forwards an explanation without evidence.

The thing with a road is that you can build it as you walk along it, so you can go anywhere and leave a way back. Pipes can't work like that; they have to be complete before they can be used. Because many pipes are in remote areas, it seems hard to believe that a team can get to a remote area and build a pipe without there being a route already.

Trails can be made yah know.
If there's temples in the mountains of Tibet and villages in the deserts of Africa, there can be pipes, especially since theres magic.

I personally like Yoshi Mastar's position in this argument, but both sides are reasonable. I think this problem has boiled down to our own interpretations. The data we have is neutral; it lends itself to both explanations.

Due to my boredom I've thought up a portal that I can use (in my comics). It's several planks that are connected to each other, and can fit together to make a doorway. Wires and transmissions can be sent through these and wah lah, the Mushroom World has our internet, communications, TV, everything. There's one in each dimension, so if one of them isn't in the doorway shape, it won't work. I fixed this by making a small hole in the middle to fit your fingers in and lift the other doorway across dimensions. Shut Up It Works In My Head!!!
