Yeah, it's no secret that this place is pretty... dormant, we'll say. We need a way to get everyone here more involved if we want to improve the forum's current condition.

I propose that we integrate a live chat system into the site - Chatango, to be specific. I was a member of a Nintendo forum for a few years, and the star of the forum was undoubtedly the Chatango chatroom, which we affectionately called the C-Box.

Having a way for us to quickly and easily chat with each other could tremendously increase our influx of ideas and things to talk about. If a particularly interesting topic of conversation pops up between a number of members, they can go ahead and create a topic on the forum so that members who weren't involved in the C-Box at the time can participate in the discussion. Of course, we'd probably need at least one moderator to take care of any anons (i.e. trolls) that make their way into our chat, but I totally think that's doable.

What do you guys think? I admittedly don't *exactly* remember how Chatango works, but I do remember that it's free and easy to integrate into pretty much any site or forum. I think it'd be great to have a chatroom around here; we have tons of interesting people, and it's a shame that few members have been willing to regularly post content to the forum. Hopefully, though, you guys see Chatango as an avenue that we can take to liven this place up.

Cool! I'm glad I already have someone on board with this.

And sadly, the forum I was referring to no longer exists. The member who was hosting the site abruptly decided to stop paying for the domain last year, and the forum was disbanded. I still keep in touch with everyone from there, though, so that's cool.

But anyway, anyone else down with this? I need some more support - particularly from an admin - if we're to try out Chatango. :0

maybe we consider also the other chatbox that offer more specific features that can help this forum site , like what i used in my website chatwing chatbox its good chatbox.

I've found that chat boxes don't really help with forums. Forums are automatically a slower-paced form of discussion than a chatroom or social network, but they are much more permanent. I mean on here, we have threads dating back to even 2005 that still receive the occasional reply. On chatrooms, unless someone saves the log themselves, that chat is gone forever, and on social networks, the timeline hierarchy of posts and the difficulties they have with organization prevent slow discussions like on here. What a chat box would do I think is simply make for fewer posts on the actual forum section. When my old most frequent site Nintendo City had a chat box for somewhere around a year, it also had its fewest number of posts per active member. A general chat thread (which I believe we have) would work just as well, though people aren't active enough here for any casual discussions to really get going.

Yeah you have a point on that, there are forums that don't have chat rooms, but if you want, you can visit Chatwing if you have any websites you can embed Chatwing for traffic purposes..

For first timer forums for me it is applicable to have a shoutbox where it can attracts traffic to the websites. And also there are many chat box to choose from. But currently i used Chatwing and XAT

I think one of the biggest reasons we're so inactive is that there isn't much to discuss anymore.
And we haven't had any recent Mario game that shows a truly interesting world (NSMB2 and NSMBU are pretty simple, M&L4 is honestly lacking in story, and Sticker Star is an even worse offender).
Maybe discussion will get stronger when 3D World releases, and when Mario Kart does too.

The Mario Kart games typically get a lot of discussion just because they introduce a lot of new environments worth discussing.
