Toady's Nintendo Direct revealed some Mario-centric information to us, though most of it is unfortunately pretty vague. A new Mario Kart game has been officially announced, as has a brand new 3D Mario title, though specific information on these has not been released. They will, however, be shown and playable at this year's E3, along with the new Super Smash Bros. installment, so we can look forward to that. Finally, the rumors for the new "Yoshi Land Wii U" game have been confirmed, and surprisingly, its official title seems to be Yarn Yoshi. It is a 2D platformer, and as you might be able to tell from its name, it takes a rather Yoshi's Story-Kirby's Epic Yarn approach with its visual style. (It's predictably developed by Good-Feel; props to BooDestroyer for predicting this would happen!) Unlike the other games, we're treated to a few screenshots. medialib.computerandvideogames.com/screens/screenshot_296668_thumb_wide940.jpgmedialib.computerandvideogames.com/screens/screenshot_296669_thumb_wide940.jpgmedialib.computerandvideogames.com/screens/screenshot_296667_thumb_wide940.jpgOh, and a really brief video that shows a teeny bit of gameplay. I wanted to be mad that this looks more like Yoshi's Story than Yoshi's Island, but the screenshots are just too goshdarn pretty for me to be anything but satisfied with the art style. Hopefully, though, the gameplay is challenging like Yoshi's Island and doesn't mess too much with the formula like Epic Yarn did with Kirby; the presence of those beads instead of coins makes me just a tiny bit concerned.

I always thought the whole yarn thing seemed like more of a Yoshi's Story game then a Kirby one. I guess I wasn't the only one who thought this.
