Game & Watch Gallery 2's Museum

I was just replaying Game & Watch Gallery 2 on my 3DS, and after getting all the stars, I noticed that there were still ? spaces in the gallery museum. I think I recall connecting Game & Watch Gallery 2 with the first game via Game Link Cable to display everything, so I doubt there's a way to 'complete' the museum in the 3DS Virtual Console version. Can anyone please prove me wrong?

Yeah, to unlock a few games you have to link the game to the first one, iirc. They will probably eventually add wireless multiplayer/connections to all VC games, as they have been doing very slowly.
